One of the most boring classes I have ever taken. He's a nice guy but he doesn't know how to make it understandable for people who don't know anything about economics. The tests are extremely difficult even if you study. I wouldn't recommend him.

As long as you show up and take the presentations and research paper semi-serious you should get an A

To get an A, read the book and compare with his notes he gives. He's hard to follow in class -- I only understood him because I'm an econ major and I was taking intermediate micro and macro at the same time. Overall, hes a nice guy and he'll help you out a lot. He knows his stuff, but his teaching methods aren't the best.

His lectures are mind numbingly boring! It was a struggle every class to stay awake & plus I hate econ. On the other hand, he's really nice. I totally had a brain fart & missed the final & didnt realize it til the next day!! I called him & he let me come to his office right then & take it. =)

One of the nicest professors I've had at USC. He genuinely cares about his students' success and is clearly intelligent. That being said, his lectures can be boring and hard to follow, but use the book and you'll be fine. His tests are challenging, not a lot of A's. You will have to work hard for an A if Econ doesn't come naturally to you.

The first two tests were impossible. This class at 9:30 in the morning is impossible to attend and also to pay attention to him talking for an hour is just so hard. He is really nice if you go and talk to him but he knows if you don't attend class everyday and won't meet with you unless you come all the time. Avoid. Especially in the morning.

He is a really nice professor but his lectures are REALLY boring. Especially early in the morning. It really not that hard of a class if you just look over your stuff before the tests you will be fine. He also tries to make jokes but no one laughs at them, poor guy...

Very likeable, clearly intelligent professor. His lectures are not always interesting, but his grading policy is absolutely fair. He allows students to make-up homework and exams. You need to study well for his Final Exam; it is cumulative. I used the book pretty extensively despite his lectures, but you might decide to do differently. Take him!

Dr. Martin is an awesome professor. He understands econ isn't very interesting so he tries to make it interesting by using stuff college kids care about. He made exams easy and was very willing to work with you (make up exams, homework). I wish he taught science classes so I could take him again.

Prof. Martin's a really nice guy however his lectures are so dull. I struggled just because I could not concentrate on a thing he said. I recommend going to him during office hours, it will definitely help your grade if he knows you, knows who you are, and sees you trying. Also, definitely read the textbook.

OK, I never write on here but I just have to say this. Professor Martin is one of the nicest professors in the Econ dept. He actually cares about his students and will go out of his way to help you if you ask. Sure your econ 224 class sucked...that****s boring, you think he likes teaching it? I wouldnt either.

From what I've heard he's the best of the worst. In my opinion the class is definitely passable, but you will have to learn the material yourself because his rambling lectures aren't much help on the subject. I studied for the test by reading the text, my notes and going to a tutor for review. Don't miss class, he doesn't post anything on BB.

Terrible. I'm sure he's a nice guy but he's too old to be teaching and b/c of tenure, doesn't give a ****. Rambles on all class, most of it uncomprehensible. If you have any choice DONT TAKE HIM. (Unless you get a good tutor.) I wish I hadn't.. FML

Probably the lowest maintenance class I've had in a while. 2 presentations, 3 tests. Not one of the more exciting classes, but it's easy to get through. Dr. Martin is really easy to work with.

This professor is so hard! His lectures do not make sense with what you read in the book. I would study days for his tests and not make good grades with using his study guide and the book. Do not take this teacher!!! STEER CLEAR!!!

Take Senior Seminar with Dr. Martin. You'll benefit from the ability to stand in front of class and give a lecture. And Dr. Martin is very generous with grading your effort.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. He can't teach. Just lectures throughout the class. Very boring. Material is impossible without extra help and text book use because he can't teach in a comprehensible way without making students fall asleep.
