You will no doubt DREAD coming to this lab every week. She's unorganized, unavailable for help, impatient, and flat out doesn't care! Make a friend or two because they will be your only hope!

This lab is a nightmare. The only way to get through it every week is to joke around. She is always unprepared. We always stayed late. Blackboard wasn't up the whole semester. You won't know your grade until the very end. quizzes are almost impossible unless you have someone to tell you what will be on them.

DO NOT TAKE A MONDAY LAB, unless you like waiting with your thumb up your butt for 90 minutes while she does nothing. Then you will have the pleasure of staying until 3:50 for a noon lab every week while you try to decipher your poorly written text book (what the hell is a watch glass test anyway?).

Hell. On. Earth. Ridiculous quizzes every week, procedures are monotonous and time consuming, and getting the right answer for actual labs is usually a shot in the dark. I somehow had a strong "A" a couple of weeks before the end of the semester, but it could just have easily been anything

You won't be able to count the number of times that you are tempted knock her walking cane out from under her as she passes you in the hallway.

Horrible is really the only way I can put this teacher and her class. She is not helpful and very scatterbrained to say the least. Blackboard will not be up except maybe for one week. You will have no clue of your grades until the end of the semester if your lucky. Expect to stay after your lab time at least 50% of the time as well. Avoid if u can!

What a HORRIBLE person. She is not helpful at all! Working out the lab is not too bad, it is just time consuming, but you are never going to know any of your grades until the end of the semester because she apparently doesn't do****. You will have to write pointless procedures and get ready to start lab an hour late every day.

Very disorganized. Blackboard didn't work the entire semester. Extremely unclear what she expects for lab. Quizzes were very tedious. Procedures were ridiculous. Made what should have been an interesting lab a nightmare.

This lab was a nightmare and extremely frustrating because she is really unorganized, never gives grades back or posts pre-lab info in a reasonable manner or timeframe, quizzes are etremely hard. An A is possible, but you have to work for it!!

Dr. Fijolek is very mean, she makes lots of students cry. The quizzes are also quite ridiculous. Make sure that you clean for her for extra credit cause you will need it by the end!

Did every lab the way I was supposed to. Quiz every lab day. My quiz avg was 23/25. Made a C in lab.Must do a VERY thorough procedure prior to each lab or your grade will suffer. If she doesn't like you, you're screwed. I dreaded EVERY lab. I could not have done any better. Effort does not get you a good grade. Best part of lab is the day your done

Fijolek is definitely a cool lab instructor (though she's the only Organic Chemistry lab instructor); she's a funny person. She had the whole red-head thing going on this Spring, which was quite amusing. Lab seemed impossible because I'm the type of person thatonly works in groups. I though I was almost failing (15 quiz ave); ended up with an 85!

So this class is awful, terrible, horrendous- but is required- you can make an A, but its not easy-Fijolek is very difficult because she's never around to answer questions and always has an excuse for everything- procedures usually aren't posted until the night before lab so you really don't know what you are doing in lab. Weekly quizzes

OMG, worst lab ever. Never knew how I did on my procedures, or quizzes. Never got a single grade until I read it on my transcript. So stressful, and very very long, never under three hours. You get there on time, but would never start until 45-60 minutes into start time.

Lab is not necessarily difficult, but there is a lot of time devoted pre and post-lab. Far more time than a 1 hour class should require. Follow instructions VERY carefully and be thorough and you'll get an A. Do the extra credit. You can tell she really knows the material, which is nice.

I liked this class, however, while Dr. Fijolek was an all around good teacher, I did have some problems with her class. She was VERY smart and could help out with any problems or questions when needed, but she was hardly ever around for help. Also, you never get any grades back the entire semester. You only see what your final grade ends up as.

She (for Summer '08 classes)just completely re-did how she does lab quizzes. You have a 25 question quiz at the beginning of lab and if you miss important questions you can't attend lab. But don't let it scare you. She just implemented a 5% formal report in place of the weekly lab reports. I think the new style of lab is better than in the past

Dr. Fijolek is extremely helpful and really knows her stuff. Her class is not that hard, but at times can be a lot of work. One good thing is you do not always have a lab report due each week. She gives you a few opportunities for extra credit which you should take advantage of. She is really helpful and knowledgeable.
