Online lectures are very long and drag on but are asynchronous. Paper is hard and takes a long time. I personally didn't find the exams hard because they were open book but you have to be prepared and watch the lectures. Context assignments are easy grade boosters as is the participation marks. Doesn't have office hours and not tech savvy though.

Prof. Siaroff is an incredible prof, He's well versed in his material. However, with an Online semester like this, this class has been miserable. His tests are over specific to the point of being useless for concept application. His paper was over-burdensome and awkward while getting the help you need comes in short curt emails. Don't take this.

tests are incredibly difficult because they are SO specific to small details. A lot of it is from the textbook. The context exercises are easy -graded on un/satisfactory. 1-3x a month there's participation days where students answer questions on additional reading. Term paper, not research paper. We summarize a country through 20 given sources

Professor Siaroff is very knowledgeable. He doesn't post the slides online, so make sure you read the textbook and take good notes. He tends to mumble and speeds through the slides pretty fast. But he is very willing to help you with understanding even the most simple concepts. One Paper, Three exams and easy assignments (pass or fail)

He is a very intelligent prof, very knowledgeable in his area. His class is very lecture heavy, and he does speak very slowly and mumbles quite a bit which can make him hard to understand. He doesn't post the slides which he often goes through very quickly in class. He does give the chance to improve your grade with easy assignments.

Ive only taken his 2XXX class, but will be taking his 4000. I only have this to say: Siaroff is the best professor at this University because for once it feels like the professor is investing in and valuing your education.

Prof. Siaroff is a pretty solid professor. He uses a lot of examples in class but isn't the most expressive. The textbook is essentially what he covers in class but he also covers specific countries which are heavily covered on the exam and are not in the textbook. Exams are hard but P/F and bonus assignments help.

Alan is so knowledgeable about Political Science. If you skip class, read the book and it'll be fine but if you don't want to read, go to class and it'll be fine. His tests are extremely hard because he has high expectations. He will help you if you ask and 20% of your grade are extremely easy context exercises. The class does take a lot of work.

This class was by far one of the best classes I have taken at the university. Alan is a great teacher and is very clear on his expectations. The class was by no means easy but it was definitely interesting. Lots of reading and the final is difficult, however, going to lectures and writing goods notes will get you by!

Dr. Siaroff is incredibly intelligent, genius levels. Ask him any Poli-Sci related question and he can pull up an answer as it were a google search. Genuinely cares about his students who put effort in, and his ability to memorize your name almost instantly makes you feel valued. Take notes on a laptop so you can keep up!

You can tell that he's done his intro course a million times and that he's bored with it. He's fantastic when talking about more novel topics, but he's on auto-pilot during 2310. His textbook is fantastic, use it to pass the course, then take on of his 3000 level courses.

Dr. Siaroff is a the most caring prof I have seen as he really wants his students to do well. He wrote the textbook which makes it very cheap compared to other courses and it is very well layed out. The points made in lecture and the textbook are very similar so if you miss something from the lectures it is also explained well in textbook.

Dr. Siaroff was an amazing prof. Definitely not an easy GPA booster kind of class but he's super clear with what he wants, always available to help you outside of office hours. Very quirky. Wrote his own textbook so he knows the content really thoroughly. A course that requires effort but he wants everyone to do well. Textbook & lectures important!

Alan is extremely helpful, although his lectures are very dry and he does mumble. He is the most caring prof I have ever had as a 4th year student, he will do almost anything to see you succeed in the class. His tests are tricky but the amount of free credit you get from pass/fail assignments and bonus questions is worth it

Dr. Siaroff is the smartest guy you'll ever meet his brain is all details, it's insane. He's also just a genuinely nice guy and cares about the success of his students. The tests are really really hard because he is so specific, but do the context exercises, they take like 40 mins each and honestly aren't that hard and also give you 20% for free.

Prof. Siaroff is the best professor I've ever met in the entire university and the nicest person I've met in my life. He is one of a kind, incredibly smart, and truly caring. He is gentle in giving critiques, encourages students to keep improving, and sees the good in his students. I recommend his courses and getting to know him to anyone.

Honestly learned the most I've ever learned about anything in this class. It wasn't always the most interesting, and it wasn't necessarily easy, but if you actually did the work, your grade reflected it. Extremely well organized marking rubrics, offered plenty of extra credit. Little awkward, but brilliant, great teacher, and all around cool dude.

Comparative Politics is an excellent course for everyone to refresh the basic concepts on democracy & how an actual democracy is meant to function as well as comparing that with autocracies. Dr. Siaroff is probably the most intelligent and smartest prof at the University of Lethbridge & you will develop a lot with him.
