I have had Kattus for 2 classes. I received an a in both. As long as you participate in discussion boards and answer all questions on the exam thoroughly, it is an easy A. I did not listen to every lecture and I still maintained an A for both classes. She also is lenient on when you submit discussion boards which was helpful. Exams are short essays

Ughhhhhh. I think this is the worst professor Ive ever had. Does not provide any information just loads of stories. Boring lectures, subjective tests. Her study guides make ZERO sense as well as her powerpoints. Makes me want to retake the class with someone else just because I hated it so much

Dr. Kattus has been one of my favorite professors that I've had this semester. Although she can go on long rants as long as you focus on what she spends the most time on in class you'll be prepared for the exams. Also, the online quizzes are super easy and there's not really a lot of homework which is a bonus.

Kim is a passionate lecturer! If you're not into art history, just show up, pay attention and take notes, you'll do fine. If you allow yourself to be involved and understand the material thoroughly, you can easily see how the material will spill over into your studio classes and become very useful to creating strong works of art.

She is the reason why I have taken so many art history courses. She is so incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches that the classes were actually fun. And the tests were always easy for me because she taught in a way that made you just remember the material, and not have to try to memorize it. She is a great human being.

Allen-Kattus is a wonderful lady with a clear passion for her subject. While her lectures can seem to drag on and on, her sense of humor and love for the topic keep them engaging. However, the recent switch to Canvas has left due dates skewed and a lack of clarity and organization can make things difficult to keep track of.

Don't buy the book. Goes off on tangents not related to course material and tests. Lectures are useless for exams due to her not going over the material and instead talks about whatever she wants to. Unorganized and forgetful. Don't let her charm and personality fool you; this class is not designed for those who want a clear cut path to success.

Kim is very passionate, knowledgable, and flexible. She is an excellent resource for anything Art History related. I would highly recommend downloading the powerpoints and typing your notes into them to study for later. Does give study guides. Is not boring!

Had her for both Survey of Asian and Special Topics in Japanese art. Amazing and super nice, with really fun lectures. Just study for the tests and take good lecture notes, but she makes a study guide that gives you a good idea what kind of stuff to expect on the tests.

She's super nice and gets so excited about the subject that you can't help but get excited with her. I was kind of dreading Art History, but she makes it fun with her stories. Tests are incredibly difficult though. If you wait until the day before, you will be pulling an all-nighter and even then you still probably won't know all that you need.

She may be my favorite professor. She is always excited about the subject, and talks and tells stories as if she had been there. It makes everything memorable, and art history is far from boring in her hands. Exams are predictable; once you know how to study for them, they're not bad at all. I wouldn't take art history with anyone else!

Attendance is taken and necessary for a good grade, as tests are based on class lectures. Book is not necessary, but found a teacher edition at Half Priced Books for $30, good to keep as reference material. Kim is a great person, caring teacher, and interesting lecturer. You will learn a lot about art, history, culture, and life in general.

I had been dreading taking an art history class, but now I have to admit that I kinda like art history... Kattus gets so excited about it that it's hard not to be at least interested. She talks like she personally knew Donatello, Da Vinci, Caravaggio. I'll be taking all of my art history classes with her!

Had Kim for several classes over the years- great teacher. Very understanding, very involved. Didn't think I was a big fan of contemporary art before this class, but she showed us some amazing things. Never had trouble on her tests myself, she gives study guides that show you what pieces might be talked about and if you take notes you'll be fine.
