Comment:
Most disrespectful, haughty prof. in all of AFM/MAcc. Key cons: - Spends 20 min. of 50 min. lectures on admin. rather than content - Laughs at legitimate student concerns - Reuses past exams & does not perform due diligence to ensure solutions are not on the web (2020 AK was on LEARN, 2021 AK on Course Hero). Blamed this on the students.

She hates her job and is extremely lazy. She would not teach the important stuff, learn it yourself. In a 1-hr lecture, 15 mins to talk about admin stuff that everyone already knows and she would also talk about how nice the sun is. Prof like this should not exist in a Master program, she should HELP US instead of making everyone's life difficult

Comment:
Be prepared for a lot of self teaching from the standards, there was very little explanatory support given. Most classes were spent on a very rough debrief with 15mins on the weeks standard with little substance. The slides added very little and sometimes she didn't even prepare slides for some of the more difficult, key issues in a case.

Comment:
The most unprofessional professor I have had at UW. She wants to get out of the class more than the students. She has unstructured, unprofessional, unhelpful lectures in which almost nothing were taught. This unprofessionalism should not exists in such a prestigious program. She enjoys making your life as difficult as possible. This is a joke.

Her classes are only 50 minutes per week and they are completely useless. She is so lazy and does not want to put any effort into teaching. A student ask her questions during class and it took her weeks to get a proper response. Shari also uses past cases as her exams, so for the student that have access to internet, the solution is seconds away.

Most unsympathetic, uncaring, rude&useless prof at uw. We learned the entire course on our own during COVID. Her lectures are completely useless and a student had to follow up with her 4 times (once every week) for some resources/help on IFRS 16 (which is a new standard that we didn't learn) only to get an ifrsbox link from her after 4 weeks.

Comment:
Worst prof I've encountered. Her only contribution to learning is telling us what standard to read. Her PowerPoints are virtually empty, 5 words a slide kind. If there is anything, it's written by a student and sent to her that she now uses. Does not teach, half the class is group work her TA made, other half is her giving a superficial lecture.

Reading the comments here from students makes me remember my undergrad days when Shari Mann taught at Ryerson University and I had the displeasure of having her as my professor for multiple accounting courses. Nothing has changed more then a decade later. It is sad to see a person who hates her job continue to do it and ruin an important subject

She might be knowledgeable regarding standards, but provides little to no guidance regarding how the students can read and understand the standards. She expects students to remember material learned in 2A, and she will NOT provide any detailed explanation related to the standard. Her marking guidance to the TAs is terrible- many inconsistencies.

Shari is simply not a nice person and not fun to deal with for a term. Avoid if you can. If you cant, good luck and dont expect any kindness in terms of exam content or subjective marking.

She was by far the most unprofessional professor I have come across . Her powerpoint slides are useless, it is as if she wrote them thinking "hmmm how can I use the least amount of words possible and still have complete sentences?" Lectures did not aid in student understanding and the textbook solutions are wrong, and she did not fix most of them.

She posts wrong answers to the homework problems and corrects them all the way at the END of the term. Sometimes she won't know what the problem was doing and needs students to tell her where it's going. She literally ended out last class with "um, I don't know" as the problem did not balance. Not a very approachable person either. Stay away.

She was really engaging and very knowledgeable about her standards and encourages participation. She has her favorites for participation, but most of the markings are done by TAs, so I don't think she was particularly hard. She was also really nice to us, I don't recall any moment where she was being scary.

Does not care about 99% of students, favors the 1% who get it immediately. Class experience is useless, frequently terrifying. Simply takes up problems in class, with no ability to explain concepts. Usually angry, and has no sense of humor. Mildly prejudiced. Steep marking schemes make exams a toss up. Overqualified and bitter RUN. FAST.
