He's just not a good professor. He never knows what he wants, but expects the students to give him exactly what he wants. Terrible at grade return, didn't have any papers back until the final week of classes, and had us submitting revisions during finals week. His feedback makes no sense and often will just tell you to be more specific.

Chuck is a decent prof, who makes you work for the grade. You will likely have to revise all or most of your 5 papers, but as long as you do as he says, you will receive a solid grade. There is also 10 short and easy journal entries and a participation/attendance grade, which are meant to help boost your grade. Just get ready to write!

He doesn't know what he wants and goes on lots of unrelated tangents. It's really unfortunate that attendance is mandatory, as the lectures are really just a waste of time. I was overall dissatisfied with this course and instructor. I can't believe I paid so much money for this class.

Any way you shape it, Chuck is not a good teacher. After taking his English class I can Honestly say he did not teach the class a single thing. You write papers in which he does not inform you what he wants in the papers, only to have him rip your paper apart without telling you whats wrong with it. I highly do not recommend taking him at any point

It is difficult to understand exactly what he wants in papers. Make sure to ask a lot of questions about what changes you should make to your papers to earn the grade you want. You do get an opportunity to rewrite them.

Going to his class seems like it's not necessary, but it most definitely is. He pays attention to who is there and engaged, which is a huge factor in your final grade. Not the most traditional English teacher, but he always give good feedback on what is needed to get a good grade when revising your papers.

I had Chuck for an English 5 class and he was Great. He was laied back and helped you write your papers. All you have to do is show up for 30min class once a week it isn't that hard.

The lectures with Chuck are fun and informative, but the grading is pretty hard. Most likely you will have to revise every one of your papers, but it is not that bad. During class he explains what he would like to see and what he doesn't want to see in the paper.

This class was not for me bro. I appreciate everything I learned from Chuck, but his grading was so hard. You have to go to the writing center to even pass this class. He gives u great feedback and lets u redo papers. But nah the stress I had doing those papers was crazy. However, he does improve your writing skills so that was a positive outcome.

Chuck really makes you work for the grade. His class can be difficult if you are used to writing papers the day before they are due. He gives you plenty of time to write and revise your assignments and as long as you talk with him about any concerns you will walk out of his class a better writer.

He rambles a lot and cancels class all the time, or is late. He talks about stuff not related to class but then expects a lot. He gives back papers with no grades and tells you to re-write and re-write, but if he'd do more teaching and less skipping and rambling we might learn more. He's a nice guy, but I wish I wouldn't have taken him.

Chuck will make you work for the grade. It is pretty clear cut-- if you want a good grade you will need to put in the work. This means revising your paper multiple times and having several peer reviewers. in the end you will become a better writer.

Chuck is an amazing instructor who constantly pushes you to be a better writer. While his assignments are very time consuming, the knowledge of writing that you will gain is invaluable. Focus on his feedback throughout the semester and continue to refine and you will get a good grade!

He is a tough grader, but if you truly focus on what he tells you to work/improve on, you will be a much better writer. Going to UP, this class has really helped me develop my writing skills, and I really appreciate what Chuck has done for me. If you want the grade, do not take him, but if you want to become a better writer, take him.

Cool guy but extremely disorganized. The criteria for his papers is very abstract and changes for seemingly every student. The class is full of STEM majors whom for the most part don't even know what a bad grade looks like and he will consistently give out C's and "no grades" which means you failed but hes being nice about it.

He's a great person but even he said getting an A you have to be a good writer. I thought I was but was terribly wrong. You will get bad grades on papers and will have to work for revisions. He's funny but VERY unorganized and one of those "America is great" people. Gets off topic and lost a lot of my papers I think he wants people to do bad.

He is a great teacher. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LAST COMMENT. He does a lot to try and help you pass the class. You get to rewrite your papers if you don't get a good grade. Yes the class is A LOT of work and Yes you do write A LOT, however he is a grate teacher and knows what he is doing. If you have to take English 15 take his class.

Comment:
This class is horrible. He does nothing to help you get a good grade even when you go see him every day. Doesn't teach anything in class, just talks about nonsense that's irrelevant to English. He's so cocky and rude. I'm an A student and none of my papers were good enough for him. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
