Easy class, hard midterm and final. Weekly quizzes based on random facts in the readings. Few papers but so easy. Midterm and Final are difficult though. Random multiple choice question and lengthy, specific short response questions.

Doug is a cool guy with interesting stories but thats not why you should take the class. He automaticly builds a cureve into the class, by basing it all on a point system. so basicly you have the ability to get over a 100 in the class, which just boosts the grade you do recieve. READ THE TEXTBOOK - no BS

This class is pretty much impossible. You have to read 30+ pages in the textbook AND write a paper every week, but his tests/quizzes are on the most obscure material. I read and took notes on every chapter (it took me at least 3 hours for each chapter) and still only got a B+. He never stays on topic during class and never cancels/lets out early.

I hated taking class with him. He never stays on topic and has the worst jokes. He thinks he knows everything and although he might be knowledgable, you won't get any of the information out of him because he's never on topic. Stay away at all costs.

loved him. people who dont like his grading system are insane. He makes it so the highest grade in the class is an A, not necessarily a 90-100, why would anyone not like that? I texted the entire class and played games on my phone and got a B. Do the work and skim the chapters before quizzes and youll do fine. he also has a great sense of humor.

Doug Beneway is the man. Great Stories, interesting presentation of the material. Overall, going to class was a fun and interesting experience every time. Plus, I met my girlfriend in Theories of Personality and the bond we share over his quirks is still fun and memorable. She's the best and so is he. Nothing but good things all around

Really nice, interesting guy with lots of knowledge. Classes were interesting, but he talks a lot about things that don't really pertain that much to the course material, so the class felt really rushed by the end of the semester-we barely covered everything. Quiz on reading every class, and the questions are pretty hard. The papers were fun though

Listen, you have got to stop bad mouthing this professor. He is good. If you pay attention, have an interest in Psyc, can take a few good jokes and a little rambling (every teacher does it), then Beneway is cool as****. He is willing to help and really does care. Recommend him to anyone.

Dont take his class if you want a professor that will teach you. His entire test is based off the book. He never takes attendance AND attendance isnt required BUT he gives you quizzes everyday and if you dont take it you get a 0. For that reason... people actually go to his class. Hint: read all the the off topic boxes. He quizzes you on those

As someone really interested in the material, I was nothing more than disappointed . The school needs to find someone else to to teach this course. This guy, while nice, is a waste of time, just like his grading system. Quizzes before the material is taught then a paper on ten terms from each chapter. Lots of pointless work.

This man is the worst teacher that I have ever had. He doesn't teach the material, he spends class time on pointless stories and you are forced to learn all of the material on your own. I don't understand how he can be a hard grader if he doesn't even teach the material. Drop his class if you can, I wish I had...

nice guy but not a great teacher. Apparently the theories class is just like the intro class (same stories and stuff). I am really interested in this topic and really wish it was covered by a better teacher. quiz every other class same for papers. Also his grading system stinks since you never know your grade. Granted there are always As with it.

Worst professor I ever had. You basically teach yourself. He spends class wasteing time w/ pictures of theorist and music, and you're left on your own to learn the material. Test are hard and detail oriented. Drop this class if you can.

Though he is an exceedingly nice man, he is not a particularly gifted teacher. In his Theories of Personality class, I found myself having to learn solely through textbook use, as his in-class comments were unhelpful. If you like teaching yourself - consider his classes.

Had him for Theories of Personality. He def keeps your attn with his stories (he played in a band for 10 yrs in NYC)! Every psych major should take this class without a doubt. You have to read each chapter, then write a paper relating the theorist's concepts to your own/friends/etc lives. Down side of this class is readings.. takes a lot of tim

cool guy, knows his stuff.. quiz every class, so you have to read which gets annoying.. attendance is pretty mandatory cuz if u miss u miss a quiz and loose points towards your overall grade .. tells a lot of stories and i enjoyed the class.. tests are a little hard to study for b/c all you can do is re-read the material .. i'd recommend him

Professor Beneway's class was a great class. The papers that he made you write were very easy to do. The downside is that you had to read the textbook for every class, because we were quizzed almost every class on the material in that chapter
