Comment:

His class was pretty boring, but he did make it interesting some days by talking about stories about his family and his life growing up. He can be unprofessional at times, and shows up late for class most days. He hands out notes but most of the time they're very disorganized and confusing.

Rick Henderson is a great guy and a decent professor. He does tend to go on tangents and lead away from a topic, but almost everything he talks about is on the test. The tests are tricky but not that difficult. Just make sure to really study the material and memorize the terms. Also, the study guides are great as well. A good choice for PoliSci.

Not great. His tests were fairly easy if you studied the study guides he gives out. BUT, he is so rude, I was making super good grades consistently throughout the semester but if I had a question he would always respond rudely for no reason. You would think he would treat his students with more respect. Waste of time & money tbh, take someone else.

He was extremely rude every time an email was sent out and he if he didnt respond, he would tell us that its our fault. During the pandemic, he ONLY sent out notes, theres was not a single lecture. There was a lot of trouble trying to figure out what was what.

He gives you all the information you need to know for the test through study guides and handouts so if you follow along and fill it out in class, youll be fine. He often goes off on a tangent and ends up wasting almost the entire class telling stories about his life. He was also late to class almost everyday. He is a funny guy though

Terrible! I took this professor for POSI 2310 and 2320. Gets off topic every 5 minutes! Henderson will not help you with anything. I highly recommend not taking him!

Let me start by saying that when the corona virus shut down school, Henderson said he was going to, "Make our lives a living hell." That shows you how much sympathy he has. Worst professor ive had in my life. Dont bother taking his class unless you love hateful baby boomers like him. Oh, and dont bother emailing him either because he wont answer:)

This is the worst professor I have taken at Texas State. He is constantly rude in his emails, and he does not teach. He is always ATLEAST 15 minutes late to class, and has a 20 minute story to tell why he is late. He does not answer questions asked in class and all he talks about his life the whole lecture. VERY RUDE, had to teach myself

I regret taking this professor. Lecture was sooo boring and he kept talking about his personal life like we asked or something. If you can take ANY other professor, please do. I always came to test day confused because he doesn't teach well and I had no idea what to expect. Took him for 2320 too and had to drop. Pls avoid him if you can.

most uncaring prof I have had so far. he doesn't care about the questions you have and when you do ask them he doesn't tell you straight up. he rambles in lectures and then proceeds to get upset when the class makes bad grades on test. he will call you out if you are on your phone or anything of the sort as well. I don't recommend him

don't take this class if you don't know everything about polisci on the top of your head. connect quizzes don't relate to the tests. before online classes, the tests were unable to read because of all the typos, now w/ online classes the tests are extremely hard. not to mention, if you email him he will respond very rudely & it wont help.

Henderson is the most condescending professor I have ever had. Instead of being helpful when a student asks questions, he acts like the student is an idiot. Frequently he would try to make us feel inferior if we did not know the answer to a question he asked. Plus his lectures go off-topic all the time. Seriously, choose someone else.

Do not take this class. Always late, very rude, doesn't even teach. He just reads the handouts that he already has posted on tracs. His class is a waste of time and there's no need to go except for the mandatory attendance. Auditorium classes have mandatory attendance- lecture halls do not. You will teach yourself the whole semester. Save yourself

You'd regret taking him. I'd say 30% of his lectures are about his personal life, the majority of the class will scan in and leave and come back to scan out. Quizlet is a godsend for this class, study that and his study guides and you'll scrape by.

Good teacher and knows his material but he goes off topic so much during lecture. The day before tests is always review day and he goes over EVERYTHING that will be on the test which is very helpful. I skipped a few classes and still managed to get an A, he posts helpful guides online for you to study before tests. I'd take him again, extra credit

I wouldn't enthusiastically recommend taking him. He went off topic constantly in class, and would get a bit abrasive after test days if the class did poorly. If no one raised their hand in response to his question, he would get snarky about it. He also seemed unprepared sometimes, with his tests having errors on them. Take someone else if you can.

I definitely had to teach myself in this class. Henderson is a good and funny guy and all but he gets way off topic and it really messed up my thinking process and it was very annoying. I was able to study about two nights before every test and I did good and made A+'s. I would not take him again though.

I got a B+ in this class and that was without really trying super hard. Henderson goes on and off topic frequently during lecture, and preaches that attendance is mandatory but I promise you it isn't. Honestly, just pay attention to lecture and you'll be fine!

DO NOT TAKE HIM, he does not even teach. I ended up teaching my self everything the week of the final exam. He goes off topic in every single lecture, taking about his personal life. 4 exams, 4 online quizzes and roughly 25 online assignments. One opportunity of extra credit for 4 points on lowest test score.

Henderson is not a professor i would recommend to anyone. half of the time he shows up late to class then spends 10-15 minutes rambling about how his kids missed the bus and made him late or he got stuck behind a train. the only grades are the 4 exams and 8 homework assignment that are weighted very low.
