Sometimes she goes off on tangents, but it's always a nice break from lecture. There are never any surprises on the test. What you see on her slides is what will be on the test. If she writes on the board make sure it's in your notes. She's a really easy teacher, and you learn a lot if you care enough to listen.

Took her for art history 1 and I struggled in the class until I went to her office hours. Wouldn't recommend to a person who can't concentrate for an entire class period. Going to office hours really helped and she even would bump my exam grades up if I just talked to her about it. She does know her stuff and she's a nice lady.

I can't say enough about NOT taking this course with her. I love Art History and was very interested. It was boring not helpful and at times difficult to understand. Some days she would repeat entire powerpoints and not have any clue. My grade is also late being posted by at least a week. Complete waste of time.

Unorganized and talks more about her own life than the actual subject. When she is talking about the subject, she tends to go on lengthy tirades about unrelated things. I wouldn't recommend taking this class with her. Wasn't very helpful. Wasn't bothered by the accent, but she doesn't make very much sense anyway.

She outgrown her usefulness as an educator. She rude, unaccommodating, and bitter. I heard more about her personal trials (that I could understand) than Art Hist. She could NOT be more disorganized/scatter-brained and if you do not pick up on that from the start then her tests will convince you. AVOID TAKING THIS CLASS WITH HER!

She's really not that hard to understand. She gives a few extra credit opportunities... Take them! Tests are kind of confusing because there's so much extra text on them. But anyways, try to avoid her, but don't worry if you can't.

She is horrible. You cannot understand her and most the class is her telling stories instead of teaching the material. There are no assignments, your grade consists of only 4 exams, so if you bomb the exams, there's no make up points. also she spends most the class not knowing how to use ANY technology and yelling at her computer or dvd player.

Would much rather know her outside of class. She's real cute and funny and all, but her accent, her anger towards any student who struggled, constant troubles with all technology, and complete lack of public speaking skills made the class unbearable and I hated it. Read the book, memorize dates/periods, and do the extra credit if you want to pass.

I think her accent is what did it for me. I already had NO INTEREST in art history whatsoever, and now I had to pay attention to her accent? She's a fun lady, sure, but if History isn't your thing I wouldn't recommend her. All test material is from SlideGuide (not book) and her laptop is VERY old and slow, meaning slow powerpoints.

I had her for Art History I. She was hilarious! Her stories made the material interesting, and her tests were over her lectures, although the book was an invaluable resource. I hate art history, but she made it a fun semester :) Her accent was NOT that bad either.

Hultgren overall is an okay teacher. At first, I didn't know what to expect and her accent was hard to understand. She gives multiple extra credit opportunities and each one is worth 5 points. If you have a problem she will converse with you over e-mail or in a meeting. The tests are all pictures, the slide guide is very useful.

This class is completely useless.. she is very hard to understand with the accent. She also will not help you understand more about the subject she is on, but only says she does not have time for it. She does not know how to work a computer so be ready for all her flails and setbacks...most of the time we sat as she figured out how to use PPoint

My major is Art History and I transferred from another school and I took only one class with her. I felt that I could teach her class. For example, she talked about the Mona Lisa for barely 5 minutes when it could take up a whole class time learning about its greatness. I do not feel that she knows her material.

I couldnt understand anything she said. Shes a nice lady and very passionate about art. But her accent and constant ranting about her day was funny but not helpful to understanding what the artwork. It was a good class to sleep in because it was always dark.

I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with the other comments. In fact, my opinion is the total opposite. I can barely understand what she is saying most of the time. She starts talking about things that have nothing to do with the class, making noises and flailing about. She is very mean with students and does not explain the importance of the art clearl

She is an awesome teacher. Her accent is a littler hard to understand at times, but she does not mind repeating if you ask. Sit close to the front because she writes really small on the blackboard, but she tends to repeat what she writes on the board in different classes. Her tests are set up a little strange, but easy to study for.

Before I entered this class, I had no interest in Art History. She sparked an interest for me. Now it's my major! She does have a strong accent, but it just takes some getting used to. I'm taking her Art History 2 next semester. :)

The professor was hard to hear at points due to her German accent, and she writes really small on the blackboard. I thought this was going to be a relatively easier class, but I guess I was wrong.

You'll have to go to class and study, but she's a great professor if you put the effort in. Tests have a really strange slide/matching format, but it's not too bad.
