He's an amazing professor. You have the mandatory first lecture that explains the semester's set-up, before having time to choose your groups and topic before the next week's lecture. From the 2nd week, you only meet the professor with your group, and he's really good at giving feedback. Responds to emails fast!

The course was centered around our final research project. Dr. Demers gave insightful feedback and helped every group along each step of the way on a weekly basis. He dedicated a lot of his time assisting students to build an A+ paper. I truly can not recommend taking 3900 with Professor Demers enough, one of the best ECON profs at Carleton U.

Demers is very inspiring. I really loved ECON3900 with him. Out of all the profs teaching 3900, he is 100% the best. Slightly better than his wife's ECON3900 i think

The course was based around our final research project, which seemed like a daunting enormous task however, Dr. Demers gave very good feedback and helped every group every step of the way. He dedicated a lot of time into assisting students build a great paper. That being said, the work itself had to be built upon over time. Must be disciplined.

Comment:
The most thoughtful professor. Extremely caring and put an insane amount of effort into his students. His lectures material is super boring, but I had him for 3 classes in my final year and I would have him again. In his office hours, for research papers, he will take so much time with you. Which will push back appointments, but so kind of him.

Comment:
Professor Demers supervised our research paper and he was wonderful. His meetings often started late, and always ran over-time, but ultimately that was due to the level of attention that he was giving to each group that he met with. He is extremely kind and understanding - if you need help, guidance, an extension, etc., he is very accommodating.

Comment:
Prof Demers has to be the sweetest prof at Carleton. Super understanding and always tries to help. He will take ages trying to help you understand. However, the class is extremely boring and he simply reads off a textbook slide. Its impossible to understand the content in class, you must spend a lot of time on your own.

Intelligent professor with a heart of pure gold. I feel like a lot of criticisms on this page (boring, regurgitates, etc) are unwarranted because they were written by students who just flat out didn't care about what they were studying. It's inherently "dry" material, but he knows it inside-and-out, and is clearly very passionate about it.

Extremely dry lectures, keeps you until the last minute, doesn't really make clear what he expects of you.

Not a great professor. He copied directly from the textbook for three hours each week and gave an extremely easy mid-term and brutaly difficult final. He is smart but not a good teacher.

He can answer any question, but he just stands in one spot for the whole class and reads the powerpoint slides. Although, he has the ability to take a complicated topic and simplify it. He's intelligent.
