Comment:
He literally will spend 30 minutes talking about one slide, and his notes are terrible and provide no information. He just talks about stuff that is irrelevant and shows movies. He makes you do these discussion questions every class which means you have to unfortunately show up. I rather get run over by a bus then go to his class.

Comment:
Very disappointing class. There was far too much class time wasted by pointless student "discussion". Lectures were sub par, often leading to the professor going on a long tangents on his past experiences, breaking the flow of learning. If you're expecting to learn look elsewhere, you'll be better off just reading the textbook on your own.

Dr. Hudson is a fair professor. That being said, you get what you give in his class. Students were graded on: two short quizzes, weekly online participation, a film analysis, one essay, and one final exam. The final was pretty tough. The course, however, is a must. You leave with so much knowledge about the First Nations and British Columbia.

I took one of his classes because I thought it would be interesting. Heavy reading, more than any other class I have taken and was a first year course. His quizzes are difficult as they are worded weirdly and he gives you 15 questions in 15 minutes. Took as an elective and found it to be my most stressful class.

Doug is a super nice guy. Lecture notes are pretty confusing. Final exam was super easy- it had the exact same questions from the first two quizzes- so look over those and you're set for the final! its an interesting course with cool info, but just conveyed poorly from old videos and confusing notes.

Comment:
As an instructor, Doug is very boring and hard to listen to because he is so monotone. His tests are very vague and weirdly worded, even he doesn't know what he is asking of you sometimes. He provides study guides, but they are not well organized and repetitive. Assignments are small and not too difficult, but also very vague. Would not recommend

Doug's great ! He's so funny and really enjoys teaching and loves anthropology. He is a walking encyclopedia of information but you have to do your reading if you want to do well. I would for sure take another class with him.

Doug is a good prof, he can be dry at times but if you have a good class you can break him out of his shell. Most importantly, Doug is easy to approach and creates a comfortable classroom atmosphere. He is very knowledgeable and marks fairly. If given the opportunity I would take another class with this prof.

Doug is like the only cool guy in an old folks home. He has lots of great stories and lots of experience but your not always sure what the hell he is talking about. I also have a theory that he's a real life indiana jones. If you want an easy class take it.

He's a nice guy, but not a very good teacher. He rambles on, and plays a lot of movies... and not good movies. The movies are like super old and like home movies. It's a super boring class and he is very unclear with what he expects as far as assignments go. You can tell he really does love anthropology, he just isn't good at explaining it.

Hudson is a good professor, but his tests are annoying. They are all multiple choice - with many spelling errors, repeat questions or missing questions. Half the time you have no idea what he is asking. He's intelligent & nice, but assignments are unclear & experimental.

Doug is great! I love his "ramblings". He is a well travelled and interesting guy. Super kind, happily clarifies & answers questions. In fact, I'm taking another class with him through the summer and will continue to take as many as offered. Thanks for reinforcing my love for anth!

Hudson's quizzes & exams were basically all multiple choice. He rambles a lot! I struggled to stay focused. His videos can be interesting, & he does make some good jokes on occasion. This is a very easy class if you can teach yourself from the readings, yet he is fairly knowledgeable with certain areas of anthropology.

Doug seems to be a really great professor so far. If you aren't into ramblings, don't take ANY Anth course. The ramblings are some of the best parts. I find it funny how most of the people who complained about his marking can't spell. Videos may be dated, but they are still relevant. Looking forward to taking more courses with Doug.
