This guy may know his stuff, but his ego seriously gets in the way of his ability to teach. He constantly belittles people and can be crass and disrespectful. Avoid any contact with him if possible.

I've had him for a couple of posc courses. If you attend class regularly, read the readings, ask questions.. you will do FINE! Trust me! However, if you don't show up, don't take interest.. most likely, you will do bad and hate the man. He's really friendly and very approachable :) Good at remembering names too!

Comment:
He's interested in special European political parties & thats it! if you're not interested, thats your problem. He's a very smart person but there's no use to that since he can't make himself clear and make you interested. The course outline is very obscure, lots of readings & sometimes belittles the class. Avoid him if you don't LOVE the subject.

I mixed bad I guess. He takes an interest in students, and he writes plenty of comments on papers. But I found he had a strong tendency to pick favorites, and also, maybe I'm being paranoid, but I felt he resented me for not going to class very often, which is the only explanation I can think of for why he gave me a 79.

I had Wolinetz for "Introduction to the European Union" back in the late 1990s, and completed an honours thesis under his supervision. His encouragement and support helped me work up to an MA and a PhD in the same area. Can be a little hard to follow at times, but concentrate and show an interest and you'll go far under his wing.

He is fair. Although it is annoying to get 79. A lot of work, but interesting though. Do your readings and you'll do fine. His lectures are a bit long but can be interesting.

I thought he was a wonderful, understanding prof. Yes he can be very hard to approach outside of class, but he is very understanding. Thought he was a good marker and fair with assignments. Net assignments were fun to do!! Make sure to study and do all the readings though!

Hard marker, this guy? Not through my experience. Do the work, show up for class, and you'll do great. Never had to approach him outside of class though.

Decent teacher. Tends to talk a lot and it's not always useful information, but most is still interesting. Gives good feedback and direction on written work.

He rambles about inconsequential things that have little or nothing to do with the course material. He would take 20 minutes somedays rambling about various and rather unrelated topics. He was a hard marker and I did not enjoy his course at all. I do not recommend him.

Worst professor I have ever had. Unhelpful, uncaring, pretty much the jerky, unapproachable prof people imagine. I would not recommend dealing with this prof for anything.
