Comment:
I would not recommend taking Dr. Marta. It is by far the most time consuming class I have ever taken because there are quizzes every single class period over books that you have to read on your own. She can also be rude to students at times and make you feel dumb if you do not know something that she thinks you should.

Wow. Dr. Marta is the most rude professor on campus. She does not respect students and will make you feel foolish. Get ready to read a lot of interesting material, but also be ready to be discouraged when you have to take quizzes over that material that requires you to memorize pointless information.

Not aware of how to use Canvas so you have to go deep into the course site to find assignments. Doesn't give feedback on anything. Not clear on grading. Tried to set up a time to meet to get help and did not get a response. Quizzes are tough if you don't KNOW material thoroughly. Books:Textbook + 2 others (buy) + WSJ subscription ($12)

IB class was guided by 4 modern, REALLY long books. Her course is based on threaded discussion content (participation), tough and detailed quizzes, thought-provoking essays (THAT ARE HARD), and a few tests. This class mandated students to learn a lot philosophical content. Have opinions formed by the readings and be able to back it up.

At least an hour of reading for every class, then 8 hours to prepare for a "quiz" that's worth as much as a reading quiz every two weeks. Only one test but 2-3 quizzes a week. This class took more time to prepare for than all of my other classes combined and affected my grade in all the other classes at some point.

You will have to teach yourself. She expects you to read the textbooks and Wall Street Journals everyday. If you don't understand the reading, then she won't help you. She's rude and laughs at questions she thinks we should know the answer too.

Must read all of the WSJ M-F because she won't tell you which ones will be on the quizzes. Quizzes VERY HARD because asks very specific questions. Also quizzes & exams are 20 DETAILED questions in 15 min.

Worst instructor I have ever had. Instructions for assignments was very vague, and grading scale was harsh. She refuses to answer e-mail if you dont address her as Dr. no textbook, 4 smaller books that she says you would understand if you were a philosophy major. I am a 4.0 student with a C in this class

She is the rudest professor I have ever taken in my life! The first two days of class she informed me I was to young to take the class due to the workload (I'M A JUNIOR) and that my studying was "weird" and I should change even though I pass the rest of my classes! So much reading and quizzes about everyday. AVOID IF POSSIBLE!!

Clearly intellegent and while she doesn't expect you to be naturally gifted she does expect you to show up prepared and ready to discuss. There is a direct correlation to my success in business (executive) and what I learned in from this professor.

Quote: "I have never taken a teaching class" She expects a lot out of students. Chapter quizzes 2-3x a week, World is Flat quizzes, Wall Street Journal Quizzes. Lots of work and LOTS OF READING! Doesn't really "teach". Comes in, hands out quizzes, then rambles.

Shes not that bad.... BUT........ You better be a good "self directed learner" AKA vaugeness to the max. Make sure you know the SWOT. She is hard core about that stuff... Not a hard class though. Project is cake, just sound intellegent on your papers.

Horrible! The woman thinks our lives revolve ONLY around her class. We have nother better to do than multible tests & assignments in the same week! Also a hypocrite: teaching about business people & business etiquette, but she never does it! Finally, she's VERY unforgiving and NEVER puts herself in our shoes like a GOOD teacher should do.

She is a very nice person, & tries hard to help students learn. Sometimes it is hard to understand what she wants on papers and you don't get as good of a grade as you would think. There are no tests, but there are quizes & lots of homework - she gives you lots of class time to do assignments & if you are done then you can leave

when she explains things in class... she knows what she is looking for and grades you on what she is looking for... but does not explain that aspect to the class and you end up not doing as well as expected. tests are very hard. the only thing I did like about her class was that she gave vocabulary quizes (which were matching) over the chapters.

I loved the content of the class, but her instructions were vague and her graded was very focused. She knew what she wanted to grade you on, but didn't communicate it to the class very well and then it was our fault for not knowing what to do.
