Dr. Davis engages well with all his student but engages with special attention those students who really care about mastering the class material. Loved his lectures, always engaging, humorous, and thoughtful with plenty of practical applications. Reading heavy. Light tests.

I almost wish Christ & Culture was a full-semester class, just so I could spend more time in Davis' discussion section. That should say enough.

Dr. Davis makes getting up for an 8:00 class worth it. I've found his lectures really interesting and funny and it is clear that he loves helping people learn. His tests can be pretty hard but its still worth it.

I've taken Dr. Davis for five classes--three of them philosophy courses, two of them core classes. He's a master lecturer who doesn't rely on PowerPoint or any form of media to present material outside a chalkboard and his notes. Compelling, hilarious, and very tough as a grader, Dr. Davis is an icon of the Covenant education experience.

Davis is a great professor for CHOW, but he's also probably the hardest professor for CHOW. So if you want to learn a lot and are willing to do the work, then take him. But if you just want an easy A, avoid him at all costs because he has very high standards for his students.

I had this guy for 6 classes at Covenant. He's hard, but if you even semi-work for your grade, you'll be fine. I've heard people trash talk him before. These people usually expect an easier grade than he's willing to simply give out.

Funny guy who reminds me of Robin Williams in many ways. Really difficult, but is super helpful because he wants to help you grow and learn. I didn't do as well as I wanted, but I still greatly enjoyed his class.

Comment:
Davis is very popular and I never did understand why. He is very confusing, illustrating complex concepts with a never-ending outline that includes no details whatsoever. How well you do in the class depends on how well you imitate what HE thinks you should think. Very egotistical and not a very good educator.

A good teacher engaging, funny, helpful and approachable. However, he seems fail to integrate faith and learning in this class, though he talks a lot about it in Christian Mind (and write it too in response to Dr. Hart!). Yet, I felt like I could've taken this VERY same class at a secular university. Little critique and analysis from Xtian persp.
