This is what teaching looks like. Don't sign up if you don't care, or want to be given answers. If you want to be given questions, and be surrounded by people who are engaged and do the reading - this is the class for you. 20 years after graduating, he is the only professor I REALLY remember. The best.

Firing of this guy is yet another proof of the cynical way this university is run, and particularly one of its departments.

The best professor I ever had, second to none. If you read & absorbed the phenomenal books you would do well. That's all you had to do. If you want to skim books & throw together a BS essay he's not the guy for you. If you really want to learn lessons you'll keep with you your entire life, & pass on to your children then sign up now.

Worst professor ever! Hands down! Tries to be "hip" by bending the expectations of the typical classroom. The younger kids seem to like this as it's not like their high school classrooms, but ultimately it has poor execution and it's just a cop out for lack of teaching skills. No syllabus, no teaching, too much reading and convoluted grading scale.

Took a Ken class never having heard of him before. Changed my world, my life, my mind. THIS is education: dialogue, passion and critical thinking. It's not a syllabus, but a journey, and what I learned from Ken makes up for everything I didn't learn in school. Ken's classes are for the few who actually expect to find a little education at college.

Once past the immense amount of reading you have to do, not particularly difficult. Ken's point is not to make class difficult, it's to really make you THINK, which at times in a University that frequently doesn't require too much thinking, can seem difficult. Ken was the best teacher I've ever had. If you really want to learn: take any Ken class.

One of the most amazing teachers I have ever had the pleasure to learn from. Ken engages students in a manner that other Professors simple cannot achieve because he comes down to the students level, and helps them, through discussion of a topic, to understand all sides of it. Ken is cut from another age.

The only professor at the Univ of Oregon that makes you want to come to class and do the readings. I can remember more from 1 class with Ken DeBevosie than I can from all of my other Univ. of Oregon courses combined.

I attended 2 of Ken's class in 2007 during my exchange year at UofO. He's very attentioned and considered every student. His class is the best i ever attended. His pedagogy is challenging. Attending one of his class make everyone a better persone. He's always available, he even wrote me a recommandation in a day notice during vacation

Ken gives a lot of solid information. The class is very easy if you can read, however it suffers from Kens teaching style.I have never had a more petty and intolerant prof. His classes are often packed with returning students who are easily worked into a lather by anyone who speaks negatively of their idol.Take the course but with a grain of salt

Has a secret agenda and attempts to lead students to his stubborn, predetermined conclusions (which generally have a couple grains of truth). That said, the books and the stuff you learn cannot be beat.

Two really important things you should know before taking a Ken class. Never verbalize your assumptions, unless you are willing to make a valid argument to support those assumptions. Second thing, if you consider yourself politically correct, this is not the place for you. Due to Ken's unique teaching style, I have lost faith in the rest of the U

Great teacher. I learned a ton in this class. The pace is grueling, but well worth the challenge. His course is how tertiary education should be. Best professor I have had, and I have been back East and overseas.
