Extremely passionate about philosophy. The discussions are interesting for the most part and he is very open and interested in students' opinions and thoughts. A little tough on the 400 word essays. Doesn't really take attendance, but class discussions show up on the exam. Overall, I would recommend him.

Very unhelpful and lazy. If you are used to writing normal papers this class will mess you up. His guidelines for grading are a little cloudy and I never really knew what was going on. I went to almost every class but I am still lost. Probly more the subject than the prof, but I did NOT enjoy the class

Noel knows how to talk to students to help you understand wtf Plato was talking about. Make sure you do the reading assignments, there are reading quizes. 400 word essays are tricky, but you can rewrite. Take notes in class, and participate, he likes to get into discussions. You don't need the argument book, but you NEED plato/last of the wine. =]

Noel is the smartest person I have ever talked to. He really knows his stuff and makes class interesting. He's not afraid to get off topic, but somehow always makes it relavent. I would recommend him to anyone. The response papers aren't that bad, just make sure and pay attention to what is said in class and take all the notes he writes down!

He's a very nice guy, but the class was not what I expected. We are reading Plato and the material is hard to follow and understand. His lectures really make you think about deep philosophical questions..which I hate, so I didn't enjoy the class at all. He's a cool guy though.

Very approachable, nice and friendly. He also makes a subject matter that could be very dry very interesting. Definitely a good teacher to get. He also doesn't at all insist on attendance or even turning papers in by their assigned date as long as you're honest by why you didn't (even being hungover will suffice) Great guy and smart.

asthetically dorky and by far the greatest prof i've had yet!! i know this'll sound kind of sappy, but because of his class, i now want to be more active instead of letting life pass me by. i now know the importance behind gen ed requirements, not to mention philosophy itself.

Good guy. Wants to help and see students do well. Good intro course and gen ed. Funny, too. Only a 2-3 short papers and one long one, very easy. Just do the readings, which are never hard or long, just need to be done.
