If all you're looking for is a professor who cares about the subject, look no further. If you're looking for a professor who explains her grading, you may want to reconsider. She rarely gives full points, doesn't explain why. She squeezes a lot into each week because she's not given enough time for such a broad, complex topic. She does her best.

Great professor even though I'm not an anthro major. She makes everything straight forward for her students by posting powerpoints and having good office hours. She even has a pretty cool policy sometimes where she makes says (more to herself I think), that if she doesn't get the papers graded, we don't have class

I enjoyed professor Brashler. I didn't think she was difficult. If you attend lecture she posts her PowerPoints online, her exams were easy if you did the reading and she was always helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Helpful, but a very difficult grader. Avoid taking if you simply want a blow-off course.

Obnoxious how excited she is about anthropology. She grades hard, as if everyone in the class is an anthropology major or loves the subject as she does. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER.

Avoid if it's a theme class. A lot of outside reading. Grading is NEVER explained and you'll be marked down considerably for minor things (that were not specified). Exams are essays. Everything is an essay. Choose another class for your theme, you don't need THIS much work for a theme class.

Second class I took with her. I'm not going to lie there is a lot of reading. She's very helpful and will push you. Great prof. You've got to put your work in and do your part for a grade.

Prof. Brashler is a great professor. Absolutely one of the best. She is nice and helpful but doesn't let you slack, either. She's the kind that you respect and fear and love all at the same time. She knows her stuff and gets very excited to talk about it with the students. She's funny and will take the time to help you. You won't regret taking her!

She's a good professor, expects a lot and is a hard grader. The class is interesting, she knows her stuff and is enthusiastic. She even brings snacks or food from time to time, she definitely cares about her students. If you don't want to work or learn, don't take her class or better yet - don't be in college.

Brashler teaches this class as both a history of Native Americans & a modern look at what they are currently going through in society. Internal issues & outside influence such as religious oppression & American politics affect life for Native people on & off reservations. Very insightful & thought provoking class! Do the work and get the grade!

Lots of reading, but no more than expected for an upper level class. Easy to get the grade if you follow the instruction for assignments and study with the guides she makes for all students. I learned a lot from this class! I would rec' taking Dr. Brashler only if you're willing to do the work and not expect caudling, she pushes critical thinking!

She will assign massive amounts of reading a week. Probably 300 pages. She is a stickler for citations and WILL MARK YOU DOWN if you have one comma wrong. She is easily offended. If you can avoid this class, do it. Otherwise, do not do the readings. She never tests only on them. VERY frustrating class.

Hard grader, but encourages independent thought. Not a prof for those who are expecting an easy grade. I've never recieved full marks, even though comments on my paper said I was high above the class. I like that because it gives me something to always push harder for.

I really enjoyed taking this class with Professor Brashler. Her lectures are pointless, b/c all of the quiz info comes from the readings. The quizzes are challenging and very detailed. There was not a formal final exam, rather an essay and a big group project/paper. The teacher is very nice and flexible. She really cares about the students.

I am a senior as well and have written many papers and was unable to get full points on anything. Quizzes are extremely tricky, almost like exams. Even if you read and study you probably won't get full points. Wants you to engage in discussion and ask questions, then gets irratated and annoyed when you don't talk about exactly what she wants. NO!!

I'm a senior and I've taken intro classes obviously, and I've also written MANY papers. I was unable to get full points ever on anything. It was always one or two points off. Tricky quizzes. Hard grader. Encourages questions, then gets mad when you get off track. I wouldn't recommend her.

She was an alright professor. Spent a lot more time brow-beating against anglo-saxons, conservatives, and the Catholic church than actually teaching us anything about the Native North Americans. I understand what the natives went through; I've heard it all too many times before. I'm interested in learning more about them TODAY!
