Joan is amazing. SO SO caring about her students and really does care about their mental well being amongst their academic career. Very clear grading criteria and projects. Nothing was ever hard just took some time. Very interesting class and a nice breather from my hard sciences. Would highly recommend and would take again.

Professor is not understanding. I mistakenly did an assignment wrong and did more work than I should have. She stated that since I was the only one confused on the assignment, that she would not give me any credit. Do not recommend.

The assignments are easy and reasonable. The lectures involve many stories and experiences, as she has worked in many different places. She is not very organized and kind of goes with the flow, and changes dates on you quite a bit. It was an easy class though.

I would definitely recommend this class for any health care major. It looks good and is fairly easy. There's a couple of opinion based reflection papers, and a super easy group project. She's quite the character, is funny but gets distracted easily. Would recommend.

This instructor is passionate about the areas in which she has practiced, including HIV/AIDS and oncology. Her use of medical terminology is often not correct. The textbook is riddled with errors. While she tries to make presentations relaxed, her repeated interruptions make it difficult for those presenting.

Good class to take if you need an issues credit. It was incredibly easy. A few 3 page "reflection papers" which are mostly about your opinion on something. A pretty easy midterm test. The final is one 8ish page paper about a chronic illness, and a group presentation. I doubt she's ever failed anyone, the class is a breeze.

Professor Borst is my favorite in the entire Social Work department at GVSU. Having the chance to study abroad with her was the most wonderful experience I could have asked for. She is friendly and genuine. I wish I could have her as a travel companion on all of my trips! She's super engaged and makes sure you love Ireland while you're there!

She rants a lot about her family and field experience. I don't feel like I got much to take away from her course except 3 credits... I would not recommend her and would not retake her.

Dr. Borst was awesome! One of the best professors I've ever had. She has great knowledge from the field and you can tell she knows and loves Social Work. The grading scale is a little scary for non-Social Work majors because the class is only out of 100 points and a 97 is a 4.0. But no complaints otherwise!
