He's very sweet. All the quizzes are online, and they're pretty easy. However, he gives two group presentation assignments that can be difficult. Make sure you get help from him with these!

Its just a straight monotone lecture every class. If Brakas was a pokemon he'd be a snorlax for sure. Overall he makes the class pretty easy but I wouldn't recommend him if you're actually interested in philosophy

Pretty cool, but has the stereotypical "Old Professor" voice. You get used to it though. I very rarely used any of the books he told us to have, & a few times the material actually put me to sleep. But you have to take Philosophy, so might as well have Brakas. No tests, just a group presentation & debate. Do well on those & online quizzes= A.

Comment:
At first you just have to read and take easy online quizes, but then group projects start about halfway through and can really screw you over, since they include a group debate, which is graded subjectively. Classmates told me we made a great argument but the professor wasn't intelligent enough to understand it so we got a bad grade.

He's seems like a nice old guy. Kinda at the end of his career I guess. Didn't learn too much, but didn't have to do too much either. Late a lot, but who noticed? LoL!!

Nice guy. Not a terribly difficult class if you just do the work you're supposed to hand in an do a few minutes of preparing for quizzes. Sometimes stumbles over his own explanations and sometimes you will leave the class wondering what happened in it, esp after a long discussion on a particular philosophy/er. Good class overall and not too hard

Jurgis is absolutely hilarious. He is such a sweet man, but not the best teacher. He tries to make everything "clear" but never succeeds. He gives funny examples and really wants everyone to enjoy the subject, even though nobody does. Philosophy sucks no matter what, so since everyone has to take it, take it with him. You will get a good laugh.

knows his subject really well but has trouble expressing it to the class. The subject is extremely boring but he tries to make it interesting and will often make jokes that makes the class more exciting. He's a really nice guy and his essays are easy. There is 1 pres. and 1 debate for the final. One of the best intro phil prof that I've heard of

Overall, Jurgis is a good guy. He just lectures you the whole time and always decides to talk about the most important things in the last five minutes of class. He also insists that you have three minutes left when class should have already ended five minutes ago. He's really not that bad you might as well just take him.

Somewhat boring and a lot of reading in the beginning. Towards the end of the semester the class gets easier and less difficult to understand, he knows what hes talking about even if no one else does.

Dr. Brakas is a legitimate college professor. He does not give out grades or try to gain prefrence. He cares about teaching and knows his stuff. If you want to learn something take his class, also it is not nearly as hard as others would lead you to believe as long as you do work and are of average intelligence.

Group project on inventions, 2 tests where each question is worth way too much, and a debate at the end....technically is easy to do well, but to sit through this boring class to come out in the end having learned NOTHING is so not worth it.

Take this class only if your a philosophy major otherwise avoid at all cost. Very, very, boring class rambles on about things no one cares for. and he expects you to go on e-learning 3x a day. he'll just post assignments on there when ever he feels like. 3 tests a group presentation and a group paper....

Assignments can be a bit unclear, but as long as you ask him for help it isn't too bad. Tests were short, two major projects that were pretty easy to do well on. Very willing to help students who ask.
