10% bonus if you show up for class and do presentations. 3 papers, or 2 papers + final based on questions in the textbook. One of the papers can be on volunteering. I think because of the easiness rating students will continue to take his class not knowing that your knowledge will come from your research papers not from the lectures.

This class is terrible. If you are looking for an easy class do not take this class. I learned nothing about adolescence. You could not put this class down on a resume if you plan to work with kids. You learn nothing. Also, he doesn't mark the papers for content. Completely useless class which lowered my 85% average. Do not take.

don't buy text. 3 10 page papers due whenever you want or 2 papers and a final. He gives you questions for the final. when you go to class bring other hmk/laptop cause there is no lecture or tests so nothing you need to write down at all! but he gives participation marks so you have to go! take this class if you need an easy one and an easy grade!

Neil Child is easily the worst prof I've ever had (and I currently have around 160 credits). I learned nothing in this class. He is extremely unprofessional and ethivally questionable. It is a disgrace that Campion still hires him. Being a nice guy does not qualify him to teach. Sorry Neil but, keep on busking.

Wow, most of us are third or fourth year Psych students, and not a lot of us were comfortable with his persistent use of the term "crazy." He called people who are homeless and mentally ill "wackos". He lacks professionalism, and he consistently misuses the word "phenomenology". This class is painfully useless.

Neil is a really nice guy who has lots of good stories to tell. every single class was relaxing. there is absolutely no need to write down any notes. no strict deadlines on papers. group work was fun and a piece of cake. great class to take if you are a full time student or if you have a stressful semester.

I would not take another class from him. Most boring prof I have ever had. Has to give participation marks so students attend; I did other homework while he was lecturing and stuck around for the "group" work. Don't waste money on the text, you don't need it. Three papers is all you do

worst psych class ive ever taken. impossible to take notes, on his fairly irrelavent stories of his youth, and the papers are pretty open. Would never take another class from him, and is not worth paying to attend... i went to one class all semester cuz it was so useless

You write 3 papers, no midterm, no final. Didn't learn much in class, but writing 3 papers on anything to do with Adolescent Psych was a good exercise in research if nothing else. Group work was painful but you'll get over it and it's an easy 10%. It was ok but definitely not my favorite class. More structure would be appreciated. Don't buy text.

Great guy! If you talked with him after class and stick to topics on adolescent psychology (*which is what the class is about) you will do well. The U of R needs more profs like Neil!!!!!!! FIVE STARS!

I didn't learn a thing in his class. You write three essays with no due date and no final. Go only if you want to raise GPA with easy participation marks, and bring other stuff to work on during the "lectures". Don't buy textbook.

Neil is a great professor! The U of R needs more professors like Neil who can bring in their work experience and apply it to the class. Neil is great to talk to after class and will gladly help you with your papers. Neil is pleasant, funny, and has a teaching style that other professors should adopt.

Wow . . . he is still teaching? Is this even a "class"?? What a waste of time. The U of R should hire real professors who know their material, not some funny guy who can share anecdotal stories. Don't bother taking this class, save your $500 and fill your schedule with something worthwhile

Worst class of my entire degree. Why is the university still hiring this professor? He is a nice guy, but he is no more qualified to teach this class than some random dude off the street. What a shame that the U of R can't hire faculty members that actually teach something . . .

For any science students thinking of taking this class as a mark booster, think again. This guy just randomly assigns marks so be careful. Looking at the textbook and telling a story is not teaching. Like a few other people mentioned, what a waste of $500.

He was nice and I would probably like him as a buddy to hear all of his interesting stories. As a prof he was too laid back for my liking. I need structure otherwise I slack off badly and just don't go... which is what happened with this class. But for those who are better with self directed learning than I am, i would recommend him as a prof.

I agree, total waste of time and money. He tells irrelevant stories for most of the class then tries to facilitate pointless group activities--you don't get any real information. There are good child/adolescent profs at the university who should be teaching this class. Child doesn't care about teaching and he certainly doesn't know his stuff

I am almost done my psych degree and this class is, by far, the worst one I have taken. I basically paid $500 to listen to random stories and have someone glance over my papers and assign an arbitrary grade. He should definitely not be teaching (waste of time and money!) He offers no knowledge or insight into the course material whatsoever
