His course is easy enough but this guy is so pessimistic, it was my first class of the day and would throw my vibe off the rest of the time. He gives confusing lectures, goes off tangents with students, and forces you to read his own book. Honestly, if you just repeat back what he writes in his book, he'll give you a good grade

Not THAT terrible but not a good teacher at all. Avoid. Makes you buy HIS book in cash. Can't find what he's talking about online, he makes it up. Lectures for ENTIRE class. TOO strict w/attendance(2 points off your grade every absence). Doesn't mention if you get all As, good attendance, and participate you dont have to take the final which is 40%

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. He does not seem to care about his students and bases the entire class on the repetitive and confusing book that he wrote. Picks a handful of people to not take the final, which made no sense. Uses the ENTIRE class period and is extremely strict about phones/laptops. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Horrible experience

The only book you need is one that he wrote. It's super boring, repetitive, and can be hard to understand. But you need it because there is no passing his quizzes without it. Writing assignments are reflective so not too difficult. He's mainly just a boring, pretentious old guy who doesn't offer any help.

He is a terrible teacher. I didn't like him at all. He teaches off his own book which he gives quizzes for. There are a constant amount of papers that are due that don't really even follow any philosophy it seems to be more about psychology. He would bore me to sleep almost every single class.

Morelli is not too hard of a teacher and there are no tests but be prepared to write a lot. In the beginning of the semester there were reading quizzes but halfway through those just stopped because we all failed them. Reading is pretty dry and boring and in class all he does is lecture for the entire hour and a half.

Morelli is a great guy but can be intimidating in class. If I can give one word of advice it is to go into office hours and seek extra help. We had an essay due about once a week and reading assignments every session that ranged from 10 to 30 pages. Fair grader however the actual class is not traditional in any sense of a philosophy class.

Morelli's class is exactly what I wanted in a philosophy class. He did not teach history, the assignments were experiments with a reflection paper attached that tested his theories in your life. If you don't agree with it, write it in your paper, or discuss it in class and he will listen to you. No tests, papers are easy, definitely take him.

He was such an easy Philosophy teacher, not once did I ever learn about a Philosopher or their theories it was all based on personal experience. He assigned 3-5 page papers about every week that are worth 10 points (10 in total) but they are all super easy and very easy to BS. Everything is based on your opinion and it was so easy!

Comment:
Morelli's class is easily the best of PHIL 198. There's no history lessons, no quizzes, no midterm, and no final. The only grades are on short 3-5 papers every 1 or 2 weeks that he grades very easily, and the final paper at the end of the semester. Lectures are usually interesting, sometimes boring, but overall I'm very glad I took his class.

All the writing assignments are easy and graded very easily but the midterm is SO HARD. I think everyone actually failed it. Reading is assigned every night but it's not worth doing because he explains it all the next day in class.

He is an intimidating dude, but apparently he's nice if you make the time to talk to him before class. His midterm is super hard but his writing assignments he assigns are all about your experiences and they're easily graded. The class is not about ancient philosophy or philosophers but about yourself and thinking which is actually interesting.

He's a sweet guy outside class. But in class? He's horrible. He teaches you the book that HE wrote and he basically repeats the same thing OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! We are ONLY learning about his views in Philosophy. So while other students are learning about Philosophers & their theories, I know NOTHING about them.

You dont study philosophy, you become a philosopher. You don't learn any facts or any famous philosophers. He has you examine yourself, and do experiments on people. His text talks in circles, but it's easy enough to manage. All his homework is objective. If you want a straight forward class, with classic philosophy, this isn't it.

I would not recommend Professor Morelli at all. He teaches you out of a Microsoft Word Document that he wrote himself. You do not learn at all about schools of philosophical thought, famous and influential philosophers or anything of that sort. His writing is horrendous to read (I can't imagine it ever getting published). DO NOT TAKE DR. MORELLI!

This Professor was good but I did have one problem. We did not learn anything about ancient philosophers. The only ancient greek classical philosophy we read was The Cave. Everything else was from a book He wrote. Though the material is interesting, it was not at all what I was expecting.

Morelli was a great teacher for phil 160. It's a core and most of the profs for this course are very difficult. You have meditations every thursday and his tests are straight forward. Even if you dont like phil, he'll make it easy to understand. The material is eye-opening and his teaching style is great. He's funny, nice, and helpful. take him!
