It was one of my biggest mistakes to take this DE course. But don't get me wrong, this should be a fun course for you if you like earth science. I am just an average cs student who had a whole lot of other stuff to worry about, and this wasn't a good choice for me. Do NOT take this course if you're only looking for an elective course for credit

I really didn't enjoy his class as much as some students may have. He wasn't around for the first month, so it was taught by another - a few other profs. If you study, you should be okay. The earth 121L. However, this prof doesn't seem to really care about his students as much. So only take it if you know you like the material.

Beware the distance ed course. The prof was adorable and knew everything about the earth, but it was a very difficult course. Lots of memorization. Do not suggest as an elective, but I loved Prof Morgan!

He's retired now, but he was a very awesome and interesting professor. I swear there wasn't a thing he didn't know about the Earth. His tests were nightmares though - the amount of content you were expected to know was pretty absurd. Best of luck, Professor, and thanks.

I mostly have beef with the course... as for him he's alright I guess, but there's no theory involved for his exams, it's all about memorizing names and terms, and using the right words at the right time... totally useless material, and morgan unfortunately gets the short end of the stick because he's the one that teaches it

I took the DE course. Very very interesting, the prof is clearly very passionate and a real scientist. However, that doesn't change the fact that I probably failed it :( The final was brutal, very specific questions... as a computer science student, the fact that I haven't taken such a course in a long time doesn't help, either.

HARD. (now that we got that out of the way) He's a really nice guy and he knows a heck of a lot. No textbooks, but the course notes (which he compiled himself) are crucial and should read and reviewed many times over. If you actually keep up its not that bad and you'll have a good time.

Did these classes by distance ed., EARTH 122 is brutal when done with mp3 lectures but supposedly it will become web-based soon. The guy is really knowledgeable about geology and he kind of got me interested in reading some earth science stuff on my own.

I am not sure whats the situation for the regular lecture class, but in Distance Education-wise, this is the most horrible course I ever took in my life. This old man should have update himself a bit......a video tape lecture..??!! P.S all my answers for his assignment is from google/wikipedia.....useless course note...
