Get ready to be used to his sarcastic and defamatory personality. It's just how he is. There's no extra credit. Totally recommend to go to the lecture since his powerpoint slides are full of misspells and wrong informations. For exams you need to answer how he wants otherwise he'll mark it wrong even if it's right. but after all, HE'S RETIRING.

Class is tough. Tindell is respected and knows his material. Age has gotten to him and makes constant mistakes in slides, assignments and code. Note that he is known to be rude, senile, and moody. The key to success is don't take anything personally, just go to class, take good notes, go to his office hours and plan ahead.

He basically just reads from his slides the whole time. You could probably get away with not even going to class, and reading the slides at home. His tests are way harder than you expect them to be though, so STUDY the slides, projects, and homework.

Solid teacher. Pace can be fast, but the powerpoints are great. I'd suggest listening during lecture and take notes later. Tests/projects are fair and he lets you know what he's looking for. Homework is not mandatory but you will be sad if you don't do it since it appears on tests. Book was not needed. Not that hard to do well, just pay attention.

Data structures taught by Tindell has a pretty high fail rate, but I can't imagine why. The first test is tough, lot's of code and linked lists. The rest is algorithms and really easy. He is a good guy and will help if you go to office hours, if you need.

He's very engaging if you're a good student. Seriously, I hate to be mean, but there's no reason someone with a reasonable amount of intellect shouldn't do well in his class.

If you can take data structures in the summer do it. If not his tests are based on your ability to memorize functions from his ppt slides. There's no feedback on homework grades, and little to no feedback on test grades. I went to his office hours and he spent 30 minutes talking down to a student who was there first. So he didn't seem approachable

He is definitely a hard grader and his exams are hard but you will learn a lot from him. The key to doing well is to seek him during office hours because he gives much more help and clarification than he does during his lectures. He gives a list of exam topics before the actual exam and 90% of the time its concepts from his .ppt slides.

Dr. Tindell can prove to be a bit difficult for some but has always pulled through for me. He's absolutely marvelous if you're taking him for any theory courses and he is passionate about what he teaches. Can be a bit scatterbrained though, e.g., he's had to postpone exams because he didn't print enough for the whole class. Just be on the lookout.

Tindell is a recommended teacher at USF, people shy away from him but in the end he will always come through. Had him for 3 classes, always an A or a B. Read his PPTs, his homework and quizzes will come from there, and your exams will come from the quizzes and homework. Highly recommend for any class he is teaching.

tindell for data structures was awesome. explains everything pretty well in class but goes a little quick for some. he is awesome when you go see him during office hours and will work with you. so far, he has been my fav cs prof at usf. tests are fair and based off quizzes, projects, and hw but some people found them to be pretty tough.

Tindell is one of a kind. I took him for 3 or 4 courses while at USF for a reason, though. Once you have taken him, you know pretty much what to expect. Some sparse quizzes based off the hws, written tests based off the quizzes and hws, and long and boring lectures that are more or less useless. If you are able to self teach from ppts, take him

I had an extremely hard time with him in the beginning of the semester because he had to change his virtual machine platform in the middle of the semester which really threw me off. But I went into his office hours the entire last month and he really helped me out as much as he could. He is so caring and if you give effort, he notices.

He can't be bothered to go to his own class, started the semester with NO PLAN, changed the grading criteria MULTIPLE times, and even shows up LATE TO HIS OWN EXAMS and sometimes unprepared at that (having forgot to print the exams). He is next to no help if he even decides to respond to emails. All around laziest professor I have ever met.

Taking class with professor Tindell was my biggest mistake. He doesn't teach any thing and expects to know everything on your own. He lectures only for 20mins maximum. I will suggest him to please retire because he doesn't have stamina to teach more than 20 mins. On other hand his tests are more like a puzzle, and he tries to trick you.D'T HIM

Horrible prof. determined that 13+ of us will not pass & says so, a lot. writes exams to be obscure & based on factoids from the weekly reading of the PPT slides (lecture?) to chk your degree of photographic memory instead of your understanding programming or solving problems with algorithms. ask questions at your own risk. talks down to students
