Avoid this professor at all costs, you will regret taking a class with him. Doesn't know how to teach, but he is good at making your life miserable. Assigns so much homework you will not have time for other classes. Also expects you to know how to use Mathcad from the first day of class and does not teach you how to use it at all.

He is the worst professor I have ever had. He was disrespectful to students, talked down to them and refused to take feedback. He assigned insane amounts of homework a night to the point I barely had time to work on anything else. His lectures were worthless he covered almost no material and refused to teach us how to use the software. DO NOT TAKE

Spent at least 25 hrs/wk on hw and most of it was not even collected. The class is one of the more useful classes I have taken at WPI, but the professors made me loathe the class. He just reads of slides in class which makes it very difficult to pay attention or learn anything in class. Would not recommend him.

One of harder professors I have taken at WPI. He presented the material well, but about 24 hours of HW each week and project reports wash out understanding the. Very nice guy, but plan to work hard for your grade

I learned a lot from this class! It was a huge time commitment though, 2-4 hours of homework per night plus working on a group term project. He is very friendly and helpful in office hours and genuninely wants to help you learn. The project is not well-defined so you NEED to go to office hours to ask him exactly what he expects for the report...

Very good class, probably the most useful ME class I have ever taken. A LOT of work, but it forces you to learn. Professor is very friendly and helpful, he explains concepts well and going office hours is great because he really sits down and helps you. I think everyone just hates of Furlong because of the huge amount of effort the class requires

AVOID. Mateial for class is extremely easy, but he is the hardest grader i have ever heard of. ex, 75 on a test and the only mistake was a single missing coefficient in a geometry formula (not even important material!). BS grading in hw and tests makes it extremely hard to do well.

He made this class miserable. It was difficult to pay attention to lectures, most people in the end stop going because they were pointless, you got more out of teaching yourself then going to lecture. Labs could never be completed during lab time and excessive amounts of hw were assigned and less then half was graded. AVIOD AT ALL COSTS!

I hate this profssor. He makes students suffer just for the sake of it. For our labs he took off points just so that he can keep the class avg at 80, and we clearly did everything in the lab. his teaching style is good and very unteresting but again he himself is a D**k from the inside.

ME 3901. He is the most useless prof I have come across. He is not mean, just completely useless, ridiculous in his expectations, terrible in his clarity, not helpful, does not reply to emails. Doesnt use his time wisely. His Power points are repetitive, leaving out any new info that is relative. AVOID!!!

Weekly tests that are not designed to fit in an hour. They build on previous exams so its possible to prepare. LOTS of homework. Do all of it and you will probably pass the class. He is never in his office hours, but is in his office most other times and will help you with anything. Class will own your life.

One of the hardest professors at WPI. Be prepared to spend countless hours on homework and the course project. If you plan to go into engineering design or testing this is the class to take. Even though he's really hard you'll learn an incredible amount of material.

Be prepared to spend 2hrs a day AT LEAST (not 10 at once) on HW. This class is why I take ADD meds - the HW is just too much for my attention span. Cosme is a very bright guy, but no one keeps up with him, so the lectures always fall behind. Also, MathCad is your friend... very close friend that you wouldn't be akward with sleeping in the same bed.

Terrible Terrible. Only three weeks in and thinking about dropping it. 25 pages of hw a week and will only collect 5 or 6. Doesn't teach, book is bad and its ruining my term. Worst experience so far.

Horrible professor, never made clear what he wanted for lab write ups, but expected you to know. Hard grader. Tests were impossible. Lectures were pointless, whatever he taught had nothing to do with what we were doing, just him mumbling big words. Homework was rediculous as well. STAY AWAY FROM HIM!

This guy got serious issues. He can't teach yet he wants everyone to think he's smart. He's afraid of students asking him question so he uses word such as "Too simple...it clear...it's straightforward" in lectures. He read off power-points and call that teaching. Go figure. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

This guy is a joke. He uses big words just to confuse everyone and make it sound like he is the smartest guy in the room. He is never there for office hours. If you ask a question he just says it is "so simple" and you should know how to do it. At the end, we didn't have a final if we gave him a good review because he "really needed it".

Class starts out 40 students...then 25 students...then 7 students. SEVEN of us left by the time we take the final. This guy is tough...he doesn't scale either. He's a nice guy...but horrible teacher. Avoid if possible.
