Outstanding teacher! Very patient & flexible(within reason). Gives great feedback. Got a C in her class due to personal days I had to take off, so couldn't turn in some assignments on time. But this class is an Easy A! Just show up, participate, listen, and do the assignments she gives, & you'll pass. :-) Love her! Best teacher I've had at Clark.

Holy cow! What a great class however it seemed like a lot of work for only 3 credits. Weekly work is: 2 discussion posts + replies, 1 quiz, and several readings. There is also one paper due at the end of the quarter. I found the quizzes to be hard. LOTS OF READING!

GAIL IS AMAZING! She gives clear, specific directions, helpful feedback, and is easily accessible. There was quite a bit of reading, weekly discussions, and a few papers, but Gail gave a weekly schedule that helped plan out the week. This isn't an easy A, but if you follow her directions you shouldn't have a problem getting a good grade.

Lots of reading, lots and lots. Boring readings to be more accurate, and on top of that a large and somehow even MORE boring novel at the end of the course. If you don't like reading or putting hard work into a 3 credit class, do not take.

Weekly discussions (7 posts/replies beginning Wed.), weekly quizzes (15 questions each), 3 short analysis papers (2 pages), one formal essay as the final (5 pages), and *plenty* of reading, but also many extra credit opportunities. Typical due date is Sunday. Strict late submission policies. Prepare to get overworked (it's Amer. Lit, after all).

Gail was wonderful to work with. She was difficult to get a hold of sometimes, but she would always make things right. While in her class I didn't have to wonder how I would do on anything, because the instructions and grading rubrics were so clear. I would recommend her to anyone who is willing to do the work and learn.

Yes, this is an English class... Reading is a thing. But the reading material Gail chooses is interesting, manageable, and she provides other information/tools to help. I only have taken online with her, but this is one of the most structured and organized professors I have ever had the pleasure of learning from!

This is the worse teacher I have ever had at Clark. She didn't grade 90% of material until the last week. Her feedback is disrespectful and she takes this class to a whole new level. Did not feel like a 3 credit class. Would never recommend this teacher to any student looking to further gain writing skills. This teacher ruined my love of writing.

Not a class I would take again. When editing our drafts she expected us to make huge changes to it. In certain cases I can understand, but for an already sound paper it seems like too much. We did a lot of assignments (busy work)that just marked participation and our grade was based off of a final portfolio which landed me a grade I'm not proud of.

Not my favorite professor by a long shot. Extremely hard grader, especially for the final paper. Her life's mission is to read and grade English papers. She expects way too much out of her students by the end, she expects perfection. Get ready for a tough grade with her.

I loved this class and Gail! If you ask for help, she goes above and beyond with suggestions and feedback. I recommend following the weekly guidelines during the last 2-3 weeks of the quarter because there are a lot of assignments to complete! For a good grade, submit all of your discussion posts and write a decent paper (she'll help with this!).

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this class. I'm sure glad I took it. It was quite an enjoyable class and I learned a lot of methods and ways to interpret poetry. The amount of work varies, at times it feels like a lot. You definitely need to participate. You are pushed to challenge yourself. The professor is extremely helpful

Here's the thing. I always think English class each year is one of my easiest classes. Not this one. I took a hybrid ENGL 101 class at CTC with Gail, and she is the most difficult English teacher I've ever had. There are a ton of difficult, time-consuming, tedious assignments online that you need to stay on top of. Way too many discussions, etc.
