It's a shame that she's retiring, but she is by far the best professor I've ever had. She doesn't post power points so the reading goes a long way. She has a passion for what she teaches and will answer your questions. Don't be afraid to reach out to her for help if you're struggling.

Go to every lecture, take notes on everything she says, go to labs, and make sure you are careful to get the most points possible on everything they add up. Ask for help if needed. Sometimes she is grumpy but don't let that stop you.Tests can be tricky, based on lecture. If you do this its an easy A compared to many other science classes at IVC.

studying doesn't get you a good grade; applying it and remembering everything she says during the notes will get you an A though. Her notes are not online, so you have to go to class. Labs are annoying, 2 or 3 lab every week.

Horrible teacher , always grumpy, not helpful , exams are based in lecture , really hard to follow because you're trying to write down her power points and not actually listen. She doesn't even post her voca list on time, she usually does it the day before class. So make sure you bring a recorder with you. I'm an A student,my semester was hell!!!

Professor Ross has a very bad mood, when I ask something I tremble because you never know in what mood she is. She has preference over some students. Also, in evey exam she does add questions from previous chapters, even though in the syllabes is clearly stated which chapters the exam will cover. I can't wait for the semester to be over!

I enjoyed her class and felt she was very clear during lecture (her study guides kept you well prepared for class). I used a book from 20yrs ago, and did just as well as those with new textbooks-her exams were based on her lectures & study guides. She's very pleasant, and funny!

she is the WORSE teacher ever. do not take her. micro is suppose to be a fun class. she is grummy. her lectures are SO boring. she does NOT post them online so you are writing the whole time. she DOES NOT make lectures clear so you have to teach yourself. i REGRET taking her. i AM a A student and she is terrible!!!!!!

Amazing professor! Most of exams come directly from her lectures but I recommend also supplementing with the text. If you know the study guide and vocab lists there is no reason you shouldn't get an A on exams. She is a hard grader on lab reports but if you have any doubts ask for help. She can seem grumpy at times but don't let it phase you.

Doesnt post the notes which makes learning difficult during lecture because you spend your time copying things down instead of listening. She gets mad when you ask questions. Tough grader. Tests are mostly from lecture(Use vocab list & study guide). She grades on a curve, based on all her classes combined. Marks off points for spelling.

She's one of the best teacher i have ever taken. Classes are fun and interactive and she knows her material well. Test are fair. 30-50% of each exam will be from the study guide. Doing the study guide will also make you understand other materials. Vocab will help on exams. Beware of tricky questions and don't miss any class because she moves fast.

Dr.Ross says if you need help go to office hours, when you do she says the answer is in the book or dictionary, then gets frustrated why students don't ask questions. She is ambiguous w/what she wants and gives no rubric she is a meticulus grader. Exam 1-3 change in format each time! 4th exam is same as 3rd exam. She's always grouchy in lab.

Comment:
Be warned that Dr. Ross bases her exams on her lectures and doesn't seem to remember every detail she covered in class, so questions will pop up on the exam that were never actually covered in class. I think this is because she's been teaching awhile and varies the material she covers with each class a little from semester to semester.

Class requires more work than just memorizing lectures--sometimes students fail to study independently and do not do well on exams. Prof. Ross is like a Texas Ranger wielding a pistol: she's blunt, funny, smart, and will holler at you like a naughty 6-year-old even if you're a 40-year-old straight A student (my only serious complaint about her).

She is amazing! Her class requires a fair amount of effort but if you do the vocabulary lists and study guides, you'll do well. Go to lecture because she bases her tests on them! She's straightforward and she doesn't try to confuse you on her tests. She's probably the best professor at IVC.

an A is very attainable if you really commit to it. helpful, approachable, and straight forward -- especially when telling you WHAT exactly to remember for the exam. majority of material is from notes but occasional questions directly from text.

I absolutely adored Professor Ross! She made the subject matter very approachable, and her lectures were extremely entertaining. The only downside--her tests covered her lectures, NOT the book. In my opinion, it is not even worth purchasing the book. All in all, Micro could have been a very difficult subject, but she made it easy to understand!

Initially I struggled in this class, she teaches at an extremely fast pace and her notes are not posted. Then I bought a recorder and taped her lectures which helped tremendously. In the end I have to say that I loved Priscilla. She is extremely knowledgeable and gives very interesting lectures. Her labs are fun and she gives fair tests.

Professor Ross is an amazing professor and I couldn't ask for a better Microbiology professor. Her exams are strictly from lectures, she is always willing to help, a word of advice if you think she is unapproachable, you must not be intimidated. I looked forward going to her class everyday, she has a great sense of humor and made lectures/labs fun!

I find her lectures very interesting and I have learned more in this class than 4 years of classes at UCI. She keeps the material very basic, easy to understand, and interesting. Her exams are lecture based, very little reading required. I studied from the midterm guide and vocab lists and got an A. Very fun class, you get to make yogurt and wine.

I did enroll in her class because she had very good comments. Instead she is rude, unapproachable, she has her favorites, she tests on things from previous classes and claims you are already supposed to know, yet there is no prereq for Micro.I came from another college thinking I was getting first class teaching I found a farmer behind the desk!
