Comment:
Incredibly dry and boring. Rambles on and rather monotone. Grading makes very little sense. Like other ratings, took the course cause I have always enjoyed WWII but he found away to ruin the war for me as well. Might be time to retire.

I took Prof. Liebowitzs WWII class and it was a miserable experience. His lectures will put you to sleep and drone on, his paper topics are ridiculous (we wrote a paper on monuments??) and his grading policy makes no sense. He gives you a grade on a paper and doesnt even explain why. I love WWII yet he managed to make me hate the class.

Professor Liebowitz I would say was ok to pretty good. He only grades based on 3 tests and an additional grade-helper of partaking in class discussion weekly. He does give you 3 hrs on each test though. I actually wish there were more papers and less tests in this class. I feel in history you get more out of research and papers then you do tests.

He's a VERY lecture heavy professor which can bore you really easily, but the things he goes over you can find on Blackboard and such. He's willing to answer your questions thoroughly, and his grading is pretty easy. Overall, a nice person, but don't take him if you can't listen to lectures for more than 45 minutes.

Overall, he's fine. Really enthusiastic. The class can be a little boring at time because he doesn't really engage with the class. His grading is not easy so be prepared to do the readings. If you love history, I would recommend him.

Very boring and useless class. Did not really learn much other than how to properly cite a source. He talks about irrelevant material and will try to prove you wrong or rebuttle every answer you give. No reason to be in the class other than to pass in the 14 short papers he assigns.

Rambles through material you could read on your own. You must read a handful of books - Maus was good, Hard Times was terrible. When informed by a student that Hard Times was an awful read, he yelled at her that her opinion was not equal to everyone else, that she knew nothing. On the other hand, I missed a test, no problem making it up after.

You will never be right with this man, and you will never get an A. He is one of the most difficult men to deal with and if you take him you will be sorry. Even if he's wrong, he's right.

Don't even attempt this class if you're not willing to read at least a few hundred pages. The lectures are not as good as I would have liked, he doesn't add much context to the text and spent a good share lecturing the class on how poorly we were doing. I'd suggest putting a lot of work into assignments if you want a good grade.

I took Prof Liebowitz for Historical Methods, Modern World, and WWII. He knows his stuff inside and out, but he does NOT engage the class, he just rambles for the hour and almost always trails off. Always willing to help outside of class. Tough grader, rarely gives A's. I wouldn't NOT recommend him, I'm just sending out a warning.

This guy is a joke. Imagine listening to Bill COsby lecturing on Ancient China for an hour and change. It is painful, the final was full of random questions, but his quizzes are easy. Boring as anything. DOn't take modern world. Period. DOesnt matter what teacher, dont take it.

Very boring class. Hardly gets the class involved at all, just lectures for the full hour and 1/2. Doesn't go over the material in the book, instead lectures and expects you to know the book AND lectures for the tests. Very hard grader.

I have to say, I hated this class at first. He can be very intimidating but when you get to know him, he's a really nice guy, willing to help you out (just email him or speak to him outside of class). It ended up being one of my favs and I immediately signed up for another class with him. There's a lot of work but if you like WWII, you'll like him.

He is never wrong, so don't bother unless you are agreeing with him. The class is boring and there is more work than 5 senior level classes combined (I thought this would be an easy 6th class, I was wrong)... for the love of god it is a FRESHMAN LEVEL CLASS!!! you decided if this is the class for you.

AWFUL teacher. Does not even teach in his lectures. He speaks so slowly and never completes students answers. He doesn't listen to his students and you pretty much teach yourself the course. Do not take this course with Liebowitz.
