My favorite Spanish professor I have ever had. Extremely intelligent and passionate. Learned so much, and found participating to be easy and meaningful!

I didn't like him. I got no feedback on my papers or my grade and he runs his classes in a monotonous and repetitive way which includes talking with someone about the same set of questions for 10 minutes. I love Spanish and the language, but he'll ruin it for you. Somehow he's the chair of the department but I think he does a horrible job at it.

This class is challenging, and he makes you really work through the understandings of the readings in class, but he is a very good lecturer. I would definitely recommend his classes if you care about the subject matter because it is very easy to do well if you listen and participate.

I had Jerome for two classes, and I thought he was pretty average overall. The grading for both classes mainly revolved around 5 page papers and participation. He likes to randomly call on people so make sure you did the reading or at least can feign a plausible response. Doesn't grade papers harshly but doesn't give much feedback neither

He's disorganized and stoic. Sometimes coming off as cold. On the contrary he's passionate, intelligent, and genuinely interested in what you have to say. I enjoyed the course.

He's a nice guy and easy to get along with but, as a teacher, I definitely wouldn't recommend him. He constantly changes the syllabus and the readings, giving you more at the beginning and then changing his mind on what he wants you to read. He typically has you write 34 papers a semester, so he doesn't give exams, but he's snarkysarcastic.

So, Jerome's super super knowledgeable about literature/poetry/etc, but he's not fit to be a teacher. He isn't accessible to students (doesn't like email and often cuts office hours) and doesn't listen to students. He's not particularly helpful when it comes to improving your writing either, even though it's a writing class. Avoid him if possible

Not a bad course, but he often seemed unprepared for class. Once he confused the Aztecs and the Mayas, not cool if you're teaching about Latin America. He was funny and intelligent. Not my favorite, not too bad either.

It really depends on what class you're taking with Jerome. If it's a literature class (with students that understand literature), he tends to be a lot more easygoing and class goes a lot easier, but otherwise, not so much. He is very strict on papers, though paying attention in class and taking careful notes and using them in papers helps greatly.

Even though I give him bad rankings on clarity and stuff, his class is so interesting, and I genuinely enjoy having him as professor. But it's true what other people say here - he expects things in essays that he didn't ask in the prompt and he will actually take points off for it. But he's so beautiful that it's hard to stay mad at him.

He's probably better for Spanish Lit but for Civ he was awful. We spent the whole time analyzing literature. Not even from a cultural point of view. Also, he's boring and takes points off essays for points that you weren't assigned to talk about but that he thought you should have talked about.

He gave me a low grade on a paper that I knew was well researched and well presented. When I asked him why the grade was low, he replied with a list of questions that my paper didn't answer- though NONE of those questions were asked in the assignment!
