I took this professor last semester. All I'm going to say is if he is given to you - or you decided to take him. Please, for your sake. I took his class with people who write BETTER than me and turns out they failed come to find out. No matter what, you WILL fail. Do not waste your time, find a better English Professor. Take my word for it.

Tough grader. He finds fault in everything. He makes me anxious and I am not able to write well. Everything you do is wrong. You end up learning nothing at the end of the semester but rather, pleasing him. Don't take him unless you have no option.

This man made my first year of college awful! No matter how much time and effort I put into a paper, I never get higher than a C. He doesn't care at all. I am in 098 for a reason. He knows that our writing is not the best, yet he still grades tough. IF YOU ARE GIVEN HIS CLASS, DROP IT! This man will have you punching your computer screen.

honestly, this man is so tough at grading I've never been more scared to get back a paper in my life. his feedback is so confusing sometimes even when I try to follow it he still doesn't like it. during lectures he sometimes ranted bout his life, like we don't care I can promise you. he seems like a nice guy but as a teacher he scares me

He doesnt care. During the COVID and being online, he wouldnt even be generous to at least give a C. He doesnt answer all your emails, and when he does hes very sarcastic and rude. When he grades your essays, never gives good feedback. Just dont take him, or if youre given to him drop him immediately!! Im not even exaggerating, Do NOT!!

Horrible teacher, gives contradictory feedback, and is almost never available after class. If you consider yourself a good writer get ready to be challenged, and if you consider yourself a below average writer who may not be pursuing an english based major stand clear of this class. If you feel like lowering your GPA feel free to take his class.

ZEUGIN is a total hardass. He's a respectable good writer, but this year my class was very underprepared for his level of writing in 102. He's even said 101 teachers didn't prepare us well, and he still chooses to grade our class based on his criteria not on our progression as learning writers. We are ALL FAILING, save yourself and don't take him

Zeugin is probably the worst professor I've had! I did everything I possibly could to get better grades in his class but he does not care!! AND I had a GRADUATE student help me write my papers! Went to his office hours several times to fix a paragraph, only for him to REFIX WHAT I FIXED WITH HIM on my final paper! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!

Mr. Zeugin has all my respect as a person but not as a teacher. He expects you to fully know everything that he is talking about and expects you to know how to write. His review over an essay is very brief and vague of what he wants you to do. Even after following the paragraph structures, he still views my papers as inadequate. Would not take!

I struggled with this class because I am a procrastinator and had other things to handle, so I thought I was going to fail, but he worked with me. He is a good teacher, and although he was hard, I did learn a lot and feel I'm a better writer. A lot of people did not like his class, but the way he pushes you as a writer will pay off in the long run.

Upon reading the reviews, I was skeptical about taking Professor Zeugin. However after sitting in his class and analyzing his teaching methods as well as his likes and dislikes, and what he expects from an essay, he is by no means a bad professor. He is tough, but that's because he genuinely cares about the competence of his students writing.

I'm writing this review in class. I have him for ENG 099, and it is the WORST DECISION I'VE MADE AS A FRESHMAN. However if you take him, go to his office hours and don't ask him too much questions (he'll see you as a dumb person and will be irritated). You'll be the luckiest person on earth if you get a B as your final grade.

I had Professor Zeugin for Eng102 and tbh I was scared when I saw the ratings but I had no other choice. He isn't as bad as people make him up to be. He's pretty friendly, scary at times but you just have to participate in class. Make an effort and following the format and you shouldn't do too bad. I got away with a C but I definitely had to work

Probably the worst decision you can ever make during your 4 years at Rutgers. No matter how hard you work for his class, it never pays off. You just get a D or below at each assignment and then you don't even feel like working anymore for his class.

Writing format is very restricted. If you think writing should be free and viewed from various perspectives do not take his class. Essays must follow his formula. Never got higher than a C on essays. Readings are a must and analyzing and annotating them is needed to keep up. Would not take him again

The class was pretty tough for me at the start of the semester. If you can't handle criticism, don't take his class. Following his (or as he says the proper) format is essential to passing as anything less will be a C or worse. Definitely the hardest English class I ever had but I really learned a lot. He's funny every now and then as well.

Can not stand him. He thinks he's superior to other experienced writers, so forget about trying to please him as a student. I'm forced to dumb down my essays becase that's what he likes. IMPOSSIBLE to get above a B on any writing. He's extremely rude and insensitive and could care less for the success of his students. Avoid his class at any cost.
