This class is worth 1 unit. And you only meet 4 days of the semester, from 9 am to 5pm, at an Ecological reserve in Gilroy, where you spend the day out in the field learning about different habitats. At the end of the day, you are quizzed on what you learned that day. Final is on last day, difficult because you need to memorize names of plants.

He's a really lenient and laid-back biology professor. Workload was reasonable. It's an easy class if you follow his instruction.

He has a very monotone voice that tends to make people fall asleep. Despite that, he knows what hes talking about. However, he grades pretty hard on his tests. Overall though, he was a decent professor.

Myatt was a great teacher. The lectures are boring sometimes, but his study guides are very helpful. You only need to use the textbook as a reference. He is very nice/helpful if you go talk to him in his office hours. I would recommend him for Bio1!

The class was a bit boring most of the time. His lectures are not necessary if you're lucky enough to get his lab section where he repeats the same material in a quarter of the time. The lecture slides are mostly pictures that he explains. The lecture itself will most likely make you fall asleep. Bring something to do during lecture....

He puts me to sleep. He is unorganized in his lectures. I cannot find anything when it comes time to study for the test. He is boring and uses powerpoint all the time! it has nothing but pictures on it. his lectures are useless. I have to use the book to do his study guides. waste of time.

Comment:
Rodney Myatt was a good professor. However, lecture got at times pretty boring since it's hard to hear him and the material can be a little boring, especially since its not in order. For midterms, I RECOMMEND to do every study guide he posts online. His questions come from the study guide, and I was lazy to do it so I obviously didn't do so well.

Comment:
Prof. Myatt is generally a good teacher. Everything on the exams was covered in the lecture. The book for his class was useless, so it's a good idea to record the lectures. Don't bother with the study guides (lecture notes are more useful). His lectures seem out of order. The only real challenge in this class is staying awake.

He is a great teacher! You can tell how passionate he is about what he does. He cracks little jokes in lecture and he is funny! The stuff in lecture is what the tests are on so pay attention. I learned a lot about plants. I recommend this teacher if you are going to take Bio 1!

He has excellent knowledge of the subject and obvious experience with teaching. One of the best biology teachers on sjsu. The only fault i can find in him is that his lectures don't follow a logical progression, so you are forced to pay close attention. This is not that bad, just kind of annoying.

One of my favorite professors i've had at sjsu. He definitely has the potential to be a nearly perfect grandfather. His lectures are NOT unclear, people who had problems understanding them should consider repeating high school. I'd take him again in a second.

boring lectures(except when he does slide shows). he's nice, but clueless 100% of the time. You won't understand what he's talking about unless you see him outside of class. His tests are unclear, he asks obscure questions. His study guides are NO HELP.

These class was horrible. All he did was draw pictures on the board which were no help whatsoever. There was too much emphasis on genetics and the lectures were not clear.

One of the best instr I came across @ SJSU. If you go see him with a problem, he'll make sure that you understand the material before you leave his office. Easy on make up exams. Few quizzes makes life easier during the semester. Take him while you can.:)
