I was really excited about this class until I entered. He does not foster an environment that invites you to speak up. However, you can rewrite all papers. I wish I had been more invested, I was really interested in philosophy before. It's better to ask friends which professors they liked for HON 105 then let your adviser push you into a section.

Avoid like the plague. Intelligent to be sure, but because of that treats his students like they have minds of three year olds and does not respect them.

I loved the Guy personally. What it really comes down to is if you have a philosopher mind set and want to think/talk like it. If you don't you will not like it if you do you'll like him

Seemed uninterested in what students had to say. Despite his "everything is discussible" idea, he spent most of the class talking himself and going on long rambles that could be incredibly dull. Grading didn't make sense, but somehow I ended up with an A-, so I wouldn't necessarily say he's a hard grader.

He's terrible. Very strict use of the text, analyzing word for word. Hard grader on papers, would not recommend.

Probably one of the worst experiences I've had. The class was almost unbearably boring, the papers seemed completely unrelated to what we were doing in class, and, if you were to give a wrong answer in class, he seemed to make it his goal to humiliate you. I can honestly say I gained nothing from this class.

Students who downgrade Professor Pellauer's teaching and classes do not deserve his time. So what if he calls on you? Intellectual humility is a keystone to learning and it appears that students who do not like Prof Pellauer do not have that. Professor Pellauer changed my life and he is brilliant. His class was liberation and refuge for my soul. An

Pellauer runs a very organized class, but his actual grading has no rhyme or reason. If you participate and put forth a decent effort you should be fine. This isn't a class you can skip or sleep in, but it's not impossible either. He teaches to the text, so read!

He's a professor who teaches Logic in a very illogical manner. He's unclear, he takes all of the answers straight from the book and even then makes mistakes on proofs. If you don't get an answer right (he calls on everyone) you feel humiliated. I took an intro to logic course and did well the quarter before then did terrible in this course.

Hard, harsh, unfair. Guys just not a good teacher. i missed 1 class and was punished harshly bc of it. It was a 100 level course taught at a graduate level. deserved a much better grade than i received in a 100 level course

alright believe the people that involved in this major and gave negative responses were not incorrect at all. Attendance was not mandatory but 25% was given to particepation. i missed 1 class and was the only consistent individual to give postive input in our small 8 person class. i could only imagine what the kids that showed up only 50% of the ti

Pellaur is ridiculous. He can be rude and condescending. I would not recommend taking his class. He's boring and does little to make the class seem interesting. He's old and I think it's time to hang it up.

Professor Pellauer is brilliant! Very whimsical, intriguing, funny, and attractive! Helped me think things through on abstract levels that I enjoy. Papers, at least the term paper, is self-directed/chosen, but this is helpful in developing my own ideas and giving me the creative base to do this. Thank you Professor Pellauer!

Contrary to my initial thoughts, this class turned out to be one of my favorite and most memorable classes at DePaul. Dr. Pellauer's still got it - he's enthusiastic and clear in his lectures. The only downside to this class was some classmates who have anything but respect for him and his thought-provoking insights on philosophy. Take him!!

Pellauer gets a bad rap. He's got something of a non-traditional teaching method; his paper topics are broad, for the purpose of making you explore your own ideas as opposed to regurgitating facts. Thought-provoking course. I was extremely disappointed with how childish my classmates were when forced to try something outside their comfort zones.

the papers arent that hard to write, he's not picky about tone or even lenght, he just wants you to convey and support good ideas. plus, you get rewrites.

This class was really interesting and I think it worked out well as my first philo class. He's a weird guy, kind of has a creepy breathy laugh? It bothered me, but he's REALLY into class participation which is like 25% of your grade. Then there's 3 papers and a journal. You can rewrite the papers that he doesn't grade that hard in the first place.

This guy is like the worst professor ever. No one seemed to be learning anything and everyone lived in fear of retribution of an arbitrary and unknown infraction. His grading didn't follow his syllabus and he was unavailable and unfriendly outside of class.
