Great professor. Take notes during the lecture and it should be an easy A. His class was online for me so we had to do checks in for attendance and we only had to write 1-3 sentence on what we learned from the lecture videos. Quizlet can be really helpful for the exams!

Great teacher! Although hed often go on tangents during lessons, Ogawa always had lots of fun stories to tell, and there was never a dull moment in his class. Make sure you go to labs, though. Attendance there is mandatory, and thats where youre gonna study for your exams. Exams werent too hard, provided you did your readings and everything.

He made showing up to class fun. Really random, but funny. I'd almost say spontaneous with his lectures. He's done this for so many years that it's like second nature to him and he really knows what he's talking about and is super passionate about it. The only downside was the 3 tests, but other than that a study guide was provided...

He would be a good professor if he used PP and REAL FACTS. His lectures are all oral stories & he tells a lot of personal stories. Its good in the beginning but it gets old real fast. Its hard to tell what content will be on the test and he says a lot of INACCURATE stories. Its horrible and he won't let you ask questions in class.

This class only have 3 group discussions and 1 written exam. No homework, project and paper! The written exam is hard and is a big factor to decide your final grade. My written test result was bad so I got a B- in this class. If you don't mind get a B-, it is a good class for fulfilling the elective class requirement.

Lecture attendance was not required, but Professor Ogawa is such a neat man! He's passionate about the subject and is hilarious in his mannerisms. Ogawa is excellent at telling stories, history, and holding attention. Lab is the worst part, but is absolutely mandatory. It's boring and repetitive, but will help you pass with little studying effort.

Lab attendance is mandatory, but go to class daily because his lectures are purely oral (that, and movie days that will grant you extra credit). Will stress pathos, ethos and logos a lot though, but otherwise it's a good class to take. You don't really need the textbooks except for presentations (most readings on Laulima). Would take again :)

Ogawa is very passionate and informative about his subject. Attend his lectures to gain good insight or attend the labs and video lectures for the mandatory attendance credit. Either way, the study guides provided will help you Ace the tests/quizzes and the presentations are a breeze with minimal effort. Plenty of EC as well. Books were unnecessary

Two lectures and one lab each week - his TA's are the ones that actually grade your work. He is extremely knowledgeable in Japanese American history, no doubt. Lectures can be boring sometimes. Lab - a paper, 2 oral presentations, group paper, couple pop quizzes. Best part of the class was being given a very straightforward study guide! Easy A.

Lectures are full of personal experiences by Prof. Ogawa that relate to the material on the test. We watched quite a few videos/documentaries. Lab portion was super easy, except for group projects. If you get stuck with lazy people, good luck. Textbook was only needed once during entire semester. Quite a few presentations here and there.

Entertaining lectures, but classes are taught and graded by undergraduate TA's. (Not graduate students.) You gotta do some public speaking, but the grading criteria isn't clear and is sometimes hypocritical, since Dr. Ogawa doesn't even fulfill the criteria well when he speaks. Tests are not that easy, but if you put in the effort you can get an A.

If you are looking for an easy A, then you chose the right class. For those who allocate an below average-average amount of study time this class should be a walk in the park. The entire class is based on a single concept IMO and doesn't take much effort to learn. Slackers still get As.

Dr. Ogawa is very passionate and knowledgeable about what he teaches. He lectures without any powerpoints, but his talking is usually very interesting. He assigns too many papers to write (At least 15 pgs throughout semester). His tests (2 midterms and final) are consisted of mult. choices, short answers and essays.

Great professor and great class! Doesn't lecture from books, notes, or presentations cause he's pretty much an expert on this stuff. Attendance for movie days and lab are mandatory. Tests are easy if you pay attention and do the study guides. Fair and easy grading and real enthusiasm for the subject.

Ogawa is very intelligent and shares many personal stories in class about Japanese American internment. The class has a lot of Japanese terminology and historical information, but is manageable. Three tests, three online quizzes, a group oral and paper, and an individual oral, the class seems like a lot but is fun. Movie days for extra credit.

Easy class. Simply show up and all material will be given to prepare you for the exams. There is, however, no real academic merit to this class. Rote memorization is required to do well, and no need for critical thinking. essentially a poor high school class taught in college by a professor more interested in self aggrandizement than teaching.

This professor is awesome. His lectures can be funny. He will usually repeat important information. The oral requirements arent that bad - 1 individual presentation and 1 group. The exams are not usually too difficult if you pay attention in lecture. He also shows films. Presentations are done in small lab sections & not infront the entire lecture
