He's a nice enough guy, though he doesn't seem too keen on actually attending office hours and what not. His lectures are fun as he tends to joke around a lot. Class itself isn't bad: open-book exams, and three short essays. Attendance is not mandatory at all.

Tricky guy. His lectures seem as though he's a senile old man talking to himself in rhetoric for 1.5 hours. Nice enough though. Tells lots of bad jokes. All open book and 2 papers. Easy enough stuff. You should be able to get an A if you just check out the material. Try to avoid going if you don't have to. He snuck extra reading onto final - beware

Open book quizes, two take home papers, and an open book final with all the dates on the syllabus. I only went on the days that there was a quiz and still got a B. Very easy.

Nothing is required of you for this class, except showing up to the 3 quizzes and writing the 2 essays. In fact,he allowed me and several other to makeup quizzes that I missed. Lectures were painfully boring. but if you're looking for an easy way to fulfill a DEC, this is the class for you. Attendance is not taken. Tests are open book!!

Nice Guy, garbage professor. First, he will never give you a clear question on anything. His essay/quiz questions are not specific whatsoever. Also he babbles so much that it is hard to follow him and that makes interesting material boring. He cant make his point clear for the life of him. One Good side though is his quizzes and final are open book

Very witty and funny, but on occassion, his humor was too predictable and tiresome. He just got annoying after awhile, but he took a relatively dry subject and made the lectures bearable. The class required no work, you didn't have to attend the lectures. You could use any references on both essays and both exams, which were the only 4 deciding factors of your grade. Anyone with a pulse could pass this class.

Funny, interesting and intelligent. seems to care only about self-aggrandizement rather than the students. I would hang out with him, but as a teacher whom one relies on lecture he falls flat. really read the course material

Great professor. If you go to class and read the book this should be a guaranteed A-/A. So long as you can you're not a complete idiot and cant write. Ok lectures, nice guy.

He knows the information but the way he teaches his lectures makes the course very uninteresting and boring. Although his lectures are boring he helped me in writing better papers because his critques are very informative

OMG I didn't learn one thing from him. He talks and talks and talks and nothing important was ever said. To top it off he grades the essays without knowing english and his TA cant even speak english. You can go to the writing center and have them write the essay and you still wont pass the essay.

Copy out of the book and throw in a few comments and you get an 7-8 out of 10 on the bi-weekly quizzes. There are 600 word papers due every 2-3 weeks, these are graded a bit tougher; write a BS paper you get 8 out of 15. Attendance is NOT mandatory except for quizzes and to hand in papers.

Every week there is a writing assignment. He grades very hard unless you have the knowledge of a medieval historian. The lectures are interesting but it is overshadowed by the amount of writing.

He was my teacher 14 years ago, and I still remember everything he discussed in class. I used to hate history (as a lit major), but now I seamlessly incorporate history into my own literature classes.
