Paul is a great professor but he is not for everyone. Your grades will come 100% from your at-home work which he will only check during midterms and anytime you voluntarily bring it in. He will not hold your hand through it, but he will walk you through a lot of theory that will help you. He will treat you as a colleague instead of a student.

Paul is a world class artist and if you show him that you're serious about learning, you'll receive a world class education. I've been a professional animator for half a decade now and I still regard Paul as the best, most talented and capable teacher I've ever had. Warning: if you're not studious about improving your art, he will just ingore you.

Paul Hudson is my absolute favorite teacher out of any learning institute I have attended in my days as a student. One of the most important things he taught was the mindset and how to open your eye to best digest your influences, tendencies and instinct as an artist. Teaches excellent techniques and has an expansive experience in various fields.

Comment:
Hudson is obviously talented, but in regard to his teaching approach he comes off as prudish & not personable in the slightest. He reminded me of a robot... cold & mechanical. I did well in his class, but wouldn't recommend him to others. He was very clinical and detached from the students. It was as if he was just going through the motions.

Comment:
I received many recommendations for this instructor, but I found him to be cold and uncaring. He did nothing to instruct the students, even after we essentially begged him to help us. His lectures were useless and unrelated to class projects, and his class was little more than an exercise in frustration. I cannot recommend him for any class.

It's been years since I was in Paul's classes. But I use what he taught me every day as an artist - er, craftsman. He absolutely MUST be one of the 10-50 most talented people in the world right now - and his abilities as a teacher, if not equal, surpass his talent. I am amazed still at how much I am learning just through remembering his words.

Probably one of the coolest and most talented people I've ever met in my life. Class is very demanding in workload, but it's all worth it. Hudson is very helpful, experienced, and produces (and has produced) some amazing work. A very inspiring, great professor, highly recommended.

This was, by far, the best learning experience I have ever had. Prof. Hudson's class is well planned, and his assignments are articulate, clear, and appropriately challenging. Classroom discussion is dynamic and relevant. The Prof. himself is articulate, talented, and as dynamic as his syllabus. A must take class!

work your ass off in his classes. and learn more from him than any other professor than you ever have before. take one of his classes with two easy other classes, and try to take every class he teaches. he is one of the few teachers at SCAD that you actually get MORE than your moneys worth! he is a better at art than anyone ive ever seen, up there with Drew Struzan, Richard Amsel. hes done work for NASA, Disney, will forever change how you render everything, and you will better understand EVERYTHING!!!

I love Hudson, but I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about Drawing for Sequential being such a tough class. It's great, you'll learn tons about perspective, lighting, and composition, but just do your best and pay attention and your grade shouldn't be an issue.

A good teacher for those who need help breaking down anatomy, and a lot of fun to listen to. He's pretty openminded, but gives a lot of work. Stay on top of the workload and you'll do fine.
