Comment:
Basu is extremely unorganized. Didn't receive midterm exam grades until the night before our final. The class seemed to be prepared on the fly. She is a nice person and wants her students to succeed, but it is unrealistic to get an A in her class with the amount of reading material she assigns and without any feedback on your work.

Powerpoint drone. Difficult subject matter plus information overload. Be ready to study 15+ hours for extremely overly complicated exams. Go to class because you are forced to, but expect to do most of your learning from the book (which gives pretty good info). If you can take this class from anyone else I would recommend it.

Professor Basu is amazing! If you are taking ECON, I would recommend her. She cares about her students and will go out of her way to make sure you are clear on all topics. Exams are multiple choice with some essay questions, she will allow an index card cheat sheet!

Professor Basu has been one of my favorite professors. She takes the time to get to know you personally as well as what your needs are academically. She does all she can to help you understand the material and although she is tough, she is very fair.

Professor Basu is a very sweet lady but tough professor. She expects you to teach yourself a lot of the material and does not prepare you for the tough exams. But you can tell she tries to get to know her students personally and I like that about her. If you pay attention during class, do the homework, and read the textbook, you will do fine.

Comment:
Basu does not prepare the class for exams, essential study material was not posted until the night before the exam. She teaches from several textbooks at once and makes absolutely no sense, most times in lectures she will go over the material incorrectly and then be corrected by a student. This class is a GPA destroyer.

Professor Basu is an outstanding professor. She is crystal clear when it comes to explaining everything. All you need to do as a student and go to class and listen and take good notes and read the text. Her class isn't easy, it requires a lot of time to put in but this class will teach you a lot.

Very unclear with her notes, recites her power points the entire class. She takes forever to grade exams and does not go over the exam reviews in class. Does not try to help students understand. Would avoid her.

Basu was a difficult grader, though a fair one I suppose. She wasn't around for help at all (only via email) since she was on a maternity leave, and for a class as demanding as this (Seminar), it made things very hard. However, I must admit she was pretty reasonable with everything. She does seem to expect a little too much sometimes though.

Very sweet individual, a little frustrating at times as a professor. Not for the timid, lazy or slow-witted; much is left to the student to decipher. Fair and quick to learn from mistakes; looking forward to growth as a teacher...If you don't want to work for your grade, not only should you avoid this professor, you should avoid college/success.

The class is boring. She recites her powerpoints the entire class. Class always runs late. She makes the exams much more difficult than they need to be. If you are only taking this one class and are very interested in economics and study a lot then you will do well. I would not take her again.

AVOID TAKING THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL MEANS!!!! Nice lady but basically bores you to death with her powerpoint lectures. We always get out of class LATE! And you have to discuss an economic article to the class. Thats kinda hard to do because you are already asleep from her lectures. 4 HWS...3 Exams which are almost impossible. T
