This class was really fun. At the start, you are given a random country and class partner. You work together on two presentations for your country and present them about history, broadcasting, culture etc. You also do a small mythical country assignment. No textbooks, tests, and Professor Gilbert ends class early which is great.

Did not expect this class to be so fun. You learn a great deal about many different countries all around the world. Perhaps because 50% of everyone's grades depend on one another, the class vibe is great. Gilbert has such great energy and has such a great sense of humor. One of my favorite CTVA classes I've taken. HIGHLY recommend taking this

There are only three exams you're graded on throughout the whole semester (each weighing more than the previous), and a very expensive reader ($100 book) that he wrote which is mandatory to purchase. Tests were vague and each page in his book has so much info it can be the whole exam. He just lectures about his time at a network before he "retired"

Two presentations, one short paper and a final. Thats the work, but its completely superseded by how fun it is to be in Grumpy Jeff's class. He's got a great sense of humor, but is respectably stern if anyone tries to step on his shoes. He doesn't lecture, but you'll still learn a great deal. Unique class, don't overlook it.

This class is all based on how well you do on the exams. You don't study, you wont pass. He is funny and knows a slot about the business. Participate and he will notice you. His lectures matter so always take notes. He has his own text book that he wrote himself. Come to class ready to learn!

The professor is great but the thing about this class is that you have two presentations where the entire class grades you.

Professor Gilbert is simply the BEST professor in the CTVA department at Cal State Northridge. I have had the pleasure of taking his CTVA 384 class Spring 2016 and have learned so much from him. He is very knowledgeable in his craft and is extremely helpful to his students. He is also very funny! Hands down, THE best. Thanks, Jeff for all your help

3 tests. Test one is 15 percent, test two is 30 percent, and the final is 55 percent. Lectures are straight from the book he wrote. Tests are on all material from the book. Very clear on whats going to be on test. 25 true or false and 25 multiple choice for each test. He is awesome, really funny, and very interesting.

First: The final is 55% of your grade. If you are not a good test taker, I wouldn't consider it. He is a great professor and assigns homework assignments for the first few weeks of the class for attendance. He knows the industry well and has a lot of great advice. The book is written by him and if you don't buy it don't plan on passing!

The class is all presentations, so if you're passable at public speaking, you're guaranteed at least a B. Gilbert is a wonderful professor, although the repetitive student presentations can get a bit boring. Otherwise, a recommended class! Take Gilbert for all CTVA classes possible!

Professor Gilbert is the absolute best in the department. He truly understands the field of television and has a great sense of humor. Everything is explained in a crystal clear manner, but be sure to study EVERYTHING. The final is worth 55% of your grade...

Takes attendance so show up for class or you'll lose points. Prof Gilbert is a nice guy too and grades solely on exams, like many other professors. Study his textbook throughly so you know the material.
