Very nice person and very obviously knowledgeable and smart, but her lectures and assignments feel like they were made for a 100 class instead of 500. She puts people into groups for a lot of busy work and even though I learned a little, I felt like I was sort of cheated when it came to my chance to really get into the material.

Professor Yim organized the class in a way that made a very complex subject that I knew nothing about prior to attending the class not only easy to understand, but also fascinating. She did a great job weaving in the history of the time period in with the readings too. She's an easy grader, but I felt like I learned a lot by the end of the class.

I don't know what these negative reviews are talking about, I've taken Prof Yim twice and have never seen her be disorganized or defensive. Her classes are fun and challenging, she's helpful and caring. There's lots of reading and one paper at the end. I reorganized my whole schedule to nab her for my senior seminar, and I'm really glad that I did.

She is a wonderful person, but does not conduct class professionally. Late every day, never posts grades/assignments when she says she will. An easy, but very underwhelming literary experience. Take her if you want an easy A and don't want to challenge yourself. Defensive when approached. Elementary lectures. Busywork. Take for Shakespeare only.

Professor Yim is adorable, and her enthusiasm really helps you become interested in Shakespeare. The class consists of weekly assignments, which are honestly very easy, a midterm, a group project, and a final. Overall, I would take her again and definitely recommend her.

Dr. Yim tries hard to be fun, energetic and welcoming of diverse opinions, so her classes are often quite stimulating. Lots of reading, all of it worth while. She may take inordinately long to return assignments. If you need help, don't email, go see her. She's always glad to help you develop ideas. Great professor overall.

Most of the curriculum was nothing new, but Professor Yim's knowledge and enthusiasm for Shakespeare held my interest enough. There are quizzes for each play (5 plays), take-home assignments, a midterm, and final (both of which are multiple choice, short answer, passage analysis, and essay). Study the plays, listen to the lecture, get an A.

Surprisingly excellent teacher. I was put off first day, but I soon discovered she had a rare and wonderful quality: the ability to take complex ideas and make them understandable. We read some very dense and complicated works (Saussure) but she broke them down and made them understandable. She is a very effective teacher, and friendly too.

Enthusiastic and insightful. I am no longer afraid of graduate studies level Theory having had the prequel under Dr. Yim. Theory actually became enjoyable under her tutelage.

Even though I had previously studyied two of the plays and many of the sonnets we covered in this class, I gained a new perspective on all of them from Yim's teacing. Definitely knows her stuff, encorages class discussion, and sometimes forgets to assign homework.

A really fun teacher who is very passionate about Shakespeare. Approaches the material in a very engaging way in terms that most people can understand. Group discussions and projects are quite stimulating and she even pulled a prank on us, so she has a sense of humor! Just do the reading (which isn't a ton) and you'll do fine.

I went in to this class thinking it might be hard and boring but it ended up being my favorite class this semester! She is very straightforward, and we discuss everything she wants you to know for tests/quizzes in class. She is really nice & funny too, and makes Shakespeare interesting. Would definitely recommend taking this course with her :)

Lehua Yim is very Passionate about the subject shes teaches. She likes students who speak up in class but will not penalize you if you don't. Her assignments are not easy or hard, but they are just a challenge. If you have questions she is always available to answer. But just be ready to discuss the chapter you had for homework.

Great professor--engaging lectures and discussions. She DOES assign a lot of reading and I was overwhelmed at first, but it was necessary for us to read that much to grasp the full scope of what we were studying. Totally worth the time and energy. As far as papers went, I got everything back with constructive feedback within a week or two.

A fantastic teacher. Even tho' I have always enjoyed Shakespeare, Prof. Yim has cultivated a deeper appreciation, and the application of close reading of lit. in general. She consistently engages the class, and seemed to get a lot of great commentary and opinions from the students. Silly & funny, but always with an eye to the works. Great!

Yim isnt a bad professor or even dislikable. She just is extremely disorganized. If she didnt have Ryan, her TA she wouldnt of lasted. Never emails you back regarding important questions, never helped with progress. I am sure there are better ways to learn Shakespeare than comparing him to Nicole Richie. Does she think we are idiots?

1st day of class: a defensive scowl, sifting through papers. Looks up towards packed class: expression transforms into fear. Should have known right then to leave. With 60-odd others, endured months of not knowing how I was progressing in my 1st SFSU lit class. She brought students to tears, and for what? She gave blanket A’s to stay in the dept.
