Professor Smith has two characteristics that stand out making unclear instructions in a course that deviates wildly from its textbook, and making students feel unwelcome by making them feel as if they are constantly under suspicion of cheating.

Don't ever miss a chance to take a class with Karen! This class is fairly accessible to students without any background in abstract algebra. It's slightly harder than 217 but with fewer problems in the weekly homework.

Professor Smith is hands down the best professor I've had at Michigan. She's so incredibly helpful, and she really cares about the success of each of her students. She completely understands the material, and this makes it easier to grasp concepts. If you can take a class with her, DO IT. Also, she's super sweet and caring.

Karen made an extremely daunting subject (Alegebraic Geometry) beautiful and intuitive. She's very generous with her time and is always willing to meet with students outside of class. She's exactly what a professor should be - a researcher who imparts her unique intuition to her students. A wonderful teacher and person!
