I took Anthropology of Religion(ANT 4360) with Dr. Cook after seeing all of the good feedback on here. Worst mistake of my life!! he's an AWFUL lecturer STAY AWAY from this class if your not good at essays. His grading makes no sense and he grades extremely hard! get ready to read a lot in this course. Good luck!

I took a class with Dr. Cook each year I enjoyed learning from him so much. His religion, witchcraft, and magic class brought me some of my closest friends and changed my major to anthropology. If you have the chance to take him for any of his classes, it is well worth it.

Comment:
Dr. Cook was very informative, he would spit random knowledge or tell us about his odd experiences out doing field studies. As for the class it's self, It was basically self taught, if you kept up with your assigned readings the class was a no brainer because all we would really do was discuss the readings. The test came from the readings as well.

I literally wasted 3 college credit hours on this class. Dr. Cook may be a nice person, but he's an AWFUL lecturer. If you see Religion, Magic & Witchcraft in the course listing, STAY AWAY. It is the most boring, pointless waste of time you'll ever have.

Comment:
Dr. Cook is a little bizarre and hard to follow at times, but he is incredibly intelligent and interested in his subject matter. His tests are all essay formatted, but he is lenient. As long as you do the readings and retain the information, you'll be fine. I don't suggest taking him for intro courses because he can be hard to handle.

I had Dr. Cook for some advance level Anthro courses and I really feel that I learned a lot. He is extremely versed in the Mayan culture. Great guy and mentor. I could see how someone might get bored in an intro class. If you can take him for a junior or senior level class, please do so. Especially if you take a field study course.

Intro to An. This class was so easy. Professor Cook is a nice guy and a little quirky. He knows his stuff and only things talked about in class are on the test. Easy class. Take him.

Such a nice guy! Dry sense of humor. I wasn't interested in ANT but he made it more interesting than I initially found it. I would recommend him as a teacher.

If you can get past the surface, he's incredibly funny, though he is usually very dry. Lectures can be tedious, but they're usually only once a week, so in the general scheme of things it's not that bad.

Boring, horrible class. Cook's a nice guy, but if you're looking to take Anthropology at Baylor, find another professor ASAP. Staying with that class all semester was torture.

Okay so this class isn't that hard... if you can stay awake through the droning. This guy is seriously one of the most boring people I have ever encountered. He goes to the clock everyday and never says anything. Take someone else!

Yawwwwwwn. No Offense, Dr. Cook, if you ever read this, but you need to do something about your style, bud. I tried so hard to keep my eyes open, especially sitting close to the front. I found myself staring into thin air and drooling most of the time!

He expects more out of people than they are willing to give (including myself). This is not a blow off class.
