Decent professor, boring class. He talks fast and goes off on tangents often, but you NEED the notes for the tests. 2 tests throughout the semester, 2 essays and then the final so you have to do good on everything to succeed in the class. Essays are all writing - 4 "definitions and 2 full essays. You also have to read 6 books during the semester.

BORING CLASS. Lecture the entire class every class. I wanted to run out of there every day. The tests aren't too hard though, they're all writing (essays and short answers), but you MUST take notes from his lecture. Write fast, and good luck. He is nice and helpful though.

For History Majors he is a great professor. If you don't like History I could see why you might get bored. Regardless he is very professional, good sense of humor (very dry), and extremely knowledgable. If you want to learn something about history he is the man to ask.

hypo-stereotypical prof. Tweed jacket, leather elbow patches, gray beard, and neat and tidy combed hair.... oh and not to mention the bow ties. He is incredibly intelligent, organized, and fair. Classes are rather deep and cover enormous amounts of information. Not easy, but you actually retain the information you need.

Incredible brain with perfectly dry sense of humor. Incredible personal political history in late 1960s, but Conservatives like me love him anyway. Awesome lecture style. Had him for French-Rev/Napoleon his first semester at Baylor. His lecture methods promoted superb retention. Could ask him things about history not in his field: He knew all.

Torture. Least favorite class ever. 1 day he kicked half the class out bc they werent ready for book discussion. U have 2 make your own combined maps of the 10 he tells u to study from an atlas & text book, takes me 6hrs to study for a freaking map QUIZ. avoid at all costs. trust me on this one, it's just not worth the time and stress, take another

Not hard as long as you do the papers on time and go to class. He talks REALLY fast though, so it's hard sometimes to take notes. His class really is not difficult though, just have to keep up with it.

Great professor. Relatively difficult class to keep up with, but if you take good notes in class and read the novels, you should be fine. Longfellow is long-winded, but interesting and helpful.

Very hard grader, almost impossible to get an A. I learned a lot in his class, but it is very hard. Tons of reading (total of 6 novels over the sem.)including these stupid Map Quizzes! I would suggest trying to get another professor before him. oh yeah, and he talks way too fast during lecture!!

He wears me out. The only way to survive in his class is to go talk to him but realize that he will not come down to your level. He has this ego thing and so just listen. suck it up and listen because you can learn but you will probably not get a good grade.

I was in his class for 1 day. He scared the begeesies out of me & I've heard horror stories from people who stayed in his class. He talks faster than you can think. One girl got a D & took another class with him just to prove to him she could get a C.

Excellent and well-informed. I loved his class and I plan to take him again. Show-up for class and do all your assignments and you will most likely make an A or B.
