I am not sure what others in this comment section have experienced, but from my semester in prof. Laings class, all I can say is that hes very caring about his students and is accessible to you 24/7 outside of class. He takes a while to mark things, but he has no TA for this class so its understandable. He also gives great life lessons in class!

Very rude. Picks on students for nothing, makes them feel stupid in a learning environment. Answers emails sarcastically for no reason. Has a chip on his shoulder; says its to get you ready for the real world. If any boss treats you the way he does, quit your job.

I never have a problem with professors, but this has been the most difficult, unclear, frustrating and pointless course I have ever taken. Prof. Laing is a nice professor but is incredibly unorganized, TERRIBLE with technology, and an EXTREMELY tough grader. This class is way too much work, unclear and difficult.

Do not take this teacher. He does not care about his students. There is a group project to do but he does not offer much help if you need it. The lectures are whatever, he gets sidetracked and babbles about his opinion. Try getting another teacher!

I had him twice, once in Mark 305 and the second time for Mark 301. I was never bored and actually looked forward to class. Yes he calls you out sometimes but why study marketing if you feel intimated when speaking publicly! For his exams he gives you exact replicas of the class problems and for the exams we had access to cheat sheets.

The worst classroom experience: -Thinks he's expert. Doesn't understand/how to teach the material -Trolls (deliberately offends) the classroom -No rubrics/explanations AT ALL. Grades however he feels. -Try's hard to be your friend - but doesn't respect you as a student -Disorganized, uninspiring, & insecure. & This will reflect on your grades :)

I had a lot of trouble with professor laing. he name-calls, and focuses on seemingly insignificant information the whole semester. his lectures are long-winded and hardly ever on subject. his inability to use technolgoy is frusturating. it's hard to know what he wants. but he likes to get you riled up, and off-subject.

Mr. Laing enjoys picking on students and making them feel uncomfortable, so beware if you dont want to be put on the spot. He tells you in advance what long answer questions will be on your quizzes and midterm, and they are taken directly from the textbook. Hes a tough grader for the project, but aside from that Id say his grading is pretty fair

Great prof, great lecture but you need to be ready to study for this class. The poster project requires a lot of your time at the end of the semester, be prepared. But I would 100% retake this prof and his challenging class.

He's not the nicest teacher you'll ever meet. He does engage the class, but that won't last very long. BEWARE: He likes to pick on students. If you are ok with reading the textbook (b/c he barely touches on the material in class), you'll do OK. PS: he tells you what to study for the exam yet, IT'S NOT ON THE EXAM! Just read the the textbook.

The midterm consists of multiple choice short answer and long answer. He tells you what to study for the multiple choice, and GIVES you the short answer and long answer question beforehand. Some of the questions were NOT what he gave you to prepare for and for the multiple choice, it was NOT what he tells you to study. The test was literally a scam

teacher makes class interesting, and makes students participate. Gives the exact questions he will ask on his quizzes and midterm but is a very hard grader. Do not expect more than a 70 on final group project, he is very specific and very difficult when grading the project. His quizzes and midterm prepare you well for the final.

he's nice and funny at times but if you dont read as well as listen to his lectures its hard to pass because he doesnt cover the topics that successfully in class, he doesnt put up powerpoints he just projects a few things on the board and you have to follow without much visual aid, its annoying

I have to admit his lectures are entertaining, he makes jokes and interacts with students. He can be a little too much sometimes though. Escpecially since his lectures do not have any structure, and are useless for his exams. At least he says exactly the pages to study from the book you just have to learn them by yourself. Will not take again

Professor Laing is a fantastic professor! He always gives great feedback and his lectures are entertaining. It's a very interactive course and can push you out of your comfort zone, which personally helped me grow and develop skills that apply directly to the business world. I highly recommend this professor.

he's knows his stuff, but he doesn't teach the class, just talks about himself, and his personal experiences. his gives the the topic's for the quizzes and midterm, not that it matters because his test are impossible, will ask you questions that have nothing to do with the topic. doesn't prepare you at all for the final. avoid at all possible!!!!!

Very knowledgable but he is a tough grader (and doesn't explain his corrections), get ready to memorize the book, no point on going to class since he talk about himself, he only cares about his opinion, doesn't prepare you for the final AT ALL! avoid him if you want to keep a good average!!!!
