Dr. Rennie is horrible. If your opinions don't match his exactly say goodbye to a good grade. He also has left some rude comments on my papers which have been completely out of line.

Dr. Rennie clearly knows his stuff. He is incredibly intelligent, however, I feel that he does not connect with his students. He is almost so smart that he expects you to rise to his level of intelligence, and if you can't then you simply are not correct. He would be good as just an academic. Pay attention, or you will fail. Calls people randomly.

Comment:
Dr. Rennie's Practical Philosophy class was the most frustrating class I have ever taken. He gives you few opportunities to improve your grade, is very unclear regarding expectations, and not a consistent grader. No matter how hard you try, it is set up to make you fail.

This class is interesting, but it's a lot of work for a 100 level class; meaning that there will be times where you'll find yourself spending more time on this class than your own major. He's not a bad professor, just extremely tough. His comments on your short essays will help you on your term paper, make sure to read those.

Comment:
Rennie is one of the worst professors I have ever had. Like it has been said before, it's his opinion or the highway (don't give me the "open your mind" drivel). He is rude to students and refuses to listen to outside opinions. If he doesn't like you he makes it very obvious. Good writer, his comments make no sense though. Contradicted himself.

He lectures for an hour and there is little to no class discussion of the material. He talks a lot and I don't know what he is talking about. We are three quizzes in and the class average grade is up to a D now from a 3/10. You'd think with this low of a class average, it's not the students fault, but the professors.

condescending and very much there to teach rather than to allow the students learn to gain knowledge and a degree. power distance level was very high.

Comment:
Dr. Rennie is very enthusiastic about the material. He is well-versed in the subject material. Other comments complained about his lengthy lectures: It's college, not high school. Professors are supposed to lecture! He does an excellent job incorporating material into real world religious experience to assist in understanding others religions.

The coursework is difficult, but worthwhile. Be prepared for the tests. I highly recommend getting into a debate with him - he welcomes a challenge (and he'll challenge you right back!) I agree w/ another posting: if you ask him, he'll be blunt, but I respect honesty, and there's nothing fake about Dr. Rennie. He'll also try to help every time.

Professor Rennie has a way of saying things in such a way that they it keeps your attention. His class is more like a long philosophical discussion than school work. If you can look past the grades then his class is a great place to learn something that might change the way you look at the world.

I loved Dr. Rennie, but also know that many people hate him. He is very interesting & entertaining, but can be offensive at times. REL117 was a difficult course, but I really got a lot out of it. Just a note of warning though - if you ask for his feedback, be prepared. He will be blunt.

One of the worst professors I've ever had. I took this class, Religions of The Middle East, because it sounded interesting, but, Dr. Rennie made it a living hell. He doesn't accept anyone's opinions but his own. It's his way or the highway.

His class is EXREMELY hard. Don't take it unless you are willing to work. He really knows his subject and if you pay attention, you will learn a lot. I had two classes with him, and they completely changed my perception on the world. If you have a narrow conservative view on religion and aren't willing to change it, you won't like him.

He's brilliant yet he rants in class instead of teaching. His test are essays you write outside of class which shows only that you can use books. I learned alot... all random information. He refused me help because I'm Greek and even with all of my participation he still doesn't know my name. If you're a religion major, you'll go far in his classes
