Comment:
I would not recommend this teacher he doesn't explain the concepts well at all and makes it hard to learn the material. Examples are easy to learn but the problems on tests and quizzes are 10x harder.

Professor Kaneko is a very nice man, but not the best at getting a point across, at least for linear algebra. He questioned himself a lot, almost like he did not completely understand the course content himself. Two of our classes we had a guest professor come and teach the class and both guest professors taught WAY better than professor Kaneko.

This guy is an engineer; he needs to be in the engineering department. His tests aren't hard, but he has a double standard on grading; what is acceptable on quizzes is different that what is "acceptable" on tests. There is very little focus on proofs/derivations; it's all computation. He can only understand one form of notation.

Very smart, good at explaining differential equations and problem solving techniques. Go to class, take good notes, do all assigned HW even tho not graded to get at least a B. Class is four tests (40%) midterm (30%) final (30%). Good with partial credit, fair tests, you need to be strong at all levels of math to do well in this diff Eq class.

Doesn't provide practical examples to balance the theory, then tests you using questions much more difficult than the ones explained in class. Also I found him to be hard to understand, which made it even more frustrating. I won't be taking him again, no matter what.

Nice guy, but doesn't attend office hours (which are poorly scheduled). Very few examples, teaches theory, not practical math used on tests/quizzes. You HAVE to do the homework thoroughly to have a chance. Doesn't grade on work/attempts/partial, only 100% correct answers. Avoid at all costs.

Good guy. If you learn by multiple examples done in class take him. Usually half the class is spent reviewing any problems with the previous nights homework !

His class is too difficult. He always asks about theories that make most students get low grades. He does not like students go out of the class before the class is over. I recommend to study with another professors instead. If you are smart, you can study with him happily. I will not take a class with him again.

Horrible book choice for the class. I would have been OK with just bad book choice, but not only does the book fail to properly explain topics Kaneko is terrible at explaining topics. What made me angry was that he would try to go in depth with easy topics and skip over some of the topics that we were not fully comfortable with. Take Bogacki instea

Dr. Kaneko does a very poor job explaining what he is teaching. He puts math on the board that you can follow and understand but have no clue as to what it is relevant to. I hoped to learn more from this course than I actually did, although I somehow managed a good grade. I'd take 408 with Jin Wang instead if possible. I don't recommend Kaneko!

He's a good teacher. His tests are easy but confusing. The book he chose is excellent. He starts off not very organized in his teaching but after a few classes he starts to make a lot of sense.

Decent teacher on the subject taught out of the book, but that wasn't the problem. The problem is he only had 2 tests the entire year so it had so much information on the second test that he needs to have another test in between the two that he has. The textbook is terrible as well because all the calculations were in the writing, not in equation

Dr. Kaneko is a great professor. He knows the material very well, and can help explain very hard concepts in an easy way. His tests are pretty tough, but he gives great partial credit and will also curve the highest grade to 100%. Biggest curve this semester was 9 points. He's also extremely nice, always in his office, and easy to approach.

Comment:
Left the whole class confussed and frustrated. Copied material straight from the book to the board, gave vague reviews accompanied by tests that tested the most insignificant of details. He also made us memorize proofs and rewrite them in tests. This provided little educational value. This professor detracts from the credibilty of this institution.
