To do well in his courses, be his friend. Suck up, go to his office hours, laugh at his jokes. Then you'll be fine. When the course is over, flush him.

Hilts is hands down, by far one of the BEST profs at macewan. He makes lectures very interesting. Always more than willing to help in office hours, underatanding and extremely thankful that you go for absolutely any clarification. Exams are all written, but he's super big on part marks, and exams are VERY similar to practice exams. Amazing prof.

Very passionate about Chemistry. He was very eager to help students with questions and involve them during his lectures. His Midterms were very similar to his practice tests and he holds study sessions before Final. He writes his own workbook which really helped condense the material. Also, he is really funny in his own unique way.

Rob lectures consists of doing examples, lots of examples, so you will be well prepared for exams. Midterms and finals have some similar questions from the practise exams + lecture. He does go quick, so chem 30 background is pretty helpful. He cares about students and will help you with any questions you have, lecture or lab. Funny guy too

Why are we forced to buy his workbook? It isn't even for the required textbook! It's full of errors -- what a rip off!

Buy the textbook that Rob Hilts wrote. It goes along exactly with his ppt notes and it comes with practice questions at the back. He tends to move really fast during lectures, so do some light reading before class. His exams are exactly like the practice exams online and on his book. Show up to the class before the exam for more review questions.

The notes provided in the book are useful and have to be read ahead of time because he do go through them at a rapid pace. Very helpful and approachable. Spends time on detail when needed and skims over things that aren't relevant. Very good teacher

Dr. Hilts is a great professor! I am in my first year and I thought university will be very tough, but Chemistry is a lot easier with Dr. Hilts. You can ask him questions thru email and he answers it. He does everything to help you out, he makes deadlines not stressful and that is why I love Dr. Hilts! Very accommodating and understanding!

A terrible instructor. You have to do it 'his way' or he marks it wrong. I got the correct answer and another instructor said my method was fine.

Willing to help his student in any way possible . Sometimes you do feel kinda lost in the class but if you review the material in your time you will be fine! Great thing about him is he doesn't use the textbook at all . His midterm and final are very fair, just like his practice exams. I would highly recommend him ! Very nice Prof !

I really liked Roberts class. buy his note package or print it from blackboard, it helps explain better than the textbook does, and is exactly what you'll be tested on. Teaches a little fast sometimes, but is always super helpful and nice during office hours, email etc. DO the practice exams, they are almost identical to the tests given in class.

Rob is a really nice guy, willing to help even outside office hours. He however has a poor teaching style. He flies through his notes and practice problems making the class difficult for anyone who learns from writing. avoid if you can unless you have a light course load.

loved having rob as my introductory university chem professor! really easy going and willing to help. tests are hard if you're not motivated to put in an effort to study 10 hours of chem per week! tests are almost identical to practice tests and you will find them fairly easy if you study as much as he says you should. nice guy, great prof!
