Ask questions! Professor Hale will answer them for you. In class group work every week. Lots of reading, make sure you have the textbook. You set the pace of the class, if you don't understand something, speak up. Exams are hard, but use the study guide she provides!

Patricia was pretty interesting. She's a theoretical mathematician so she made it feel like you were doing more theory than actual math. A lot of reading quizzes and group work so if you're not gonna show up I wouldn't recommend her. Her personality is interesting, just make sure you stay on her good side and she'll come in clutch at the end.

Attendance is mandatory because of reading quizzes. There are a fair amount of "group projects" that involve solving 4 or 5 problems. She's pretty lenient on grading. I liked her personality and when I asked her questions outside of class during her office hours she treated me with respect. class elementary linear algebra & differential equations

Grades fair. If you need someone to hold your hand in math, don't take. She does a broad lecture so students see the fundamental idea behind the proofs and then gets you to work in groups in order for you to figure out questions together. If no one understands in the group, she will help you get the ball rolling. Can't wait for 418!

Patricia is amazing. Great personality, extremely competent. Her reading quizzes forced me to keep current on the material, which really benefitted me. Tests are difficult, but not impossible. It's clear that she's not only interested in math, but how to effectively teach math also. She's just really great. Take her if you can.

She's knowledgable in her field (geometry) and not the easiest teacher in the department but not the hardest either. Generally you get a good education from her without risking your GPA too much. Her personality is generally a bit rough, but she's more than willing to help. A good choice for history or geometry.
