Comment:
Although Dr. Bayers lectures are interesting and captivating, his workload and tough grading are stressful. Not a professor I would recommend for those not majoring or minoring in English,. He assigned 9 books with 3 essays and a reflection for each of the novels. The course itself was very interesting, but Bayers is tough.

Prof. Bayers is a great guy and quite funny, I just wasn't expecting so much work for a English core class. This class' workload held me back to get other classwork done. I learned a great deal and pretty interesting, I just wouldn't recommend to someone trying to take a light english core class. This is a heavy loaded class with tough grading.

Dr. Bayers is hilarious and one of the best professors I've had at Fairfield. It is definitely worth meeting with him after submitting your draft or if you want to rewrite a paper - his comments are very helpful. He has great stories and is so funny. Participate during class because he notices! Also it helps you to understand the topics.

Dr. Bayers is a solid choice for an elective course. He is very specific about his expectations of the class. Make sure you participate in class as he likes to open up discussions. There are short posts due at the beginning of every class and 3 papers. He allows you to rewrite your paper if you are not satisfied with your grade.

Very funny and interesting guy. He has a lot of energy and is entertaining. 3 papers (3rd paper is the final) and short online responses due before almost every class. He really pushes you to think about the material and I feel like I've learned a lot. Tough grader on the papers, but going to office hours helps a lot.

Dr. Bayers is an amazing professor! Lectures are very interesting and mind blowing. He makes good connections to the readings . I had issues with my writing and I thought my writing was bad, but he helped me get through the class and helped me gain confidence in my writing. Probably one of the best classes I have taken here at Fairfield.

One of the best professors I've had. Moves at 100% speed all the time, carries the lectures in a holistic manner, and you always leave the class with your mind blown. A 1 pager due on the reading almost every class, 2 essays, and you learn a lot on how to participate in a lecture from a student standpoint. Also very passionate on his field of study

Don't take his class. No matter how much you participate and go to office hours you'll still get bad grades. I've never gotten lower than a B in any english class and he destroyed my first paper. If english is your passion this might be for you but other wise avoid at all costs.

Dr. Bayers is the most phenomenal professor that I've ever had. Will you have to work for your grade? Absolutely. There's a lot of reading involved, a lot of essays, and participation is key. However, Dr. Bayers is a brilliant, kind, and charismatic man, and he goes above and beyond for his students. A must-take before leaving Fairfield.

Bayers is very passionate about the frontier so he keeps the class interesting. Having 1 page papers due for each book or movie is annoying, especially when most are boring. Writing CCs are annoying too, because they aren't necessary for class. He is really big on American Studies majors so if you're one he'll love you

He makes you write many different types of small papers on top of the essays due in class. there is a lot of reading to do. If you think you can handle an 8am and do the work then go for it. but personally i did not enjoy being there. plus he's a difficult grader!. don't recommend taking his class.

Dr. Bayers is incredibly passionate about what he teaches, which transfers to his students. I took his Native American Lit class just to fulfill a requirement, and I ended up loving it. I had him 7 years ago, and I re-teach what he has taught me to my own students. If you really want to see him fire up, ask him about Thanksgiving..

he's a great teacher. go to him for help for every paper a day or two before handing in each paper. he is such a great help. if you progress over the semester in your writing he won't take the average of all your grade, but he will average your last few grades. the best teacher i've had so far here.

Great teacher. Going to class is fun because he tells wild stories about climbing and his life in suburbia. Always a small written assignment due for almost every class. Lots of reading, sometimes hard to keep up with the pace. Grades are based on whether your papers improved by the end of the course.

Dr. Bayers is an extremely enthusiastic professor. He is not only engaging in class, but encourages you to visit him during office hours to get extra feedback. Although there is a lot of writing, about a paper every 2 weeks, you will feel more confident and experienced in your writing at the end of the course. He's really chill and easy to talk to
