This guy is ridiculous! He is so boring in his lectures and his quizzes have nothing to do with the lectures. Quizzes and tests are way hard. If you get him as a prof drop immediately.

Dr.Long is horrible! He reads from wikipedia print outs, and is unprepared. His TA should teach the class, since the TA does more work than him. He is horrible about returning papers, tests and quizzes. You compete for your grade w/ the rest of the class. He is really particular on quizzes and sometimes what is on them isnt in the book!

Hard class. Loved it though. I like history, he tells good stories... I liked the way he pronounces his words.lol. Quizzes are impossible. Exams were fair, he gives you the essays and the terms ahead of time. Outline the essays before hand and learn them and you will be fine on those. TONS of key terms... kinda tough. You have to work.

Ridiculous that this man is still employed by ECU. Another example of why tenure is a bad idea. He just strolled into class with no notes, lesson plans, anything. Then he yaps about the Civil War all semester in a history since 1877 class. Now I dont know much but I think the Civil War was quite some time before that. at least the TA had a clue.

If you happen to get stuck in this class, get out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!! He is the worst teacher I have ever had. His lectures are pointless and he is very mean. There is a midterm and a final exam. He gives you 200 terms to study and only six of them are on the midterm, short answer. WORST TEACHER EVER, GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!!

Mean! He is very degrading. He will give pointless lectures in class. Very strict attendence policy and tests and quizes are extremely hard. He will cut students down and belittle them. Highly suggest not taking this class. He is not concerned about his students, almost like he wants you to fail.

This guy was absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had. That includes grade school and 2 colleges. He gave absolutely no feedback on anything. The lectures were only opinionated and story time for him. I never got back my midterm or either of the two book reports that I wrote for him. I have no idea how he got a job at ECU. Avoid him at all cost

He knows his material and his lectures can be very entertaining. His test are hard in that you need to remember a lot of information. The quizzes can be tedious but if you do the reading your going to be ok. You have to do the work in this class to make it. Do not expect and easy grade in this class. I would still take a class with him again.

He is completely useless. He was an average of 10mins late to class everyday including 20 mins late to the final. Makes you write 2 book reports, which he didnt even hand back until the day of the final. Quiz are hard. Midterm and a final. He curves because he has to I got a 45% on the midterm which he termed into a C. Only 3 absences.Dont take him

He talks about nothing but his opinions during class, attendance is mandatory, quizes on reading are given everyday. But the exams are what will kill you. He gives long study guides with everything historical on it, and only 5 percent of what he talked about. The exams are short with different types of questions. Your only hope is the book

First, he is very knowledgeable on the subject, and has a lot of knowledge. His quizzes are tedious and question minute details from the readings. He gives NO FEEDBACK AT ALL on tests, but you only get 2, so if you fail, you're screwed anyways. He is enthusiastic, though, and if you remember Lincoln was awesome and McClellan was Satan, you're good.

He's a nice guy but opinionated. Loves Lincoln. His lectures are like stories and he gets really involved. Tests are ID's and essays, the more you can put into them, the better you'll do. If you have NO idea of the subject matter going in, he can be a little hard to follow. If you're looking for super-easy, look somewhere else.
