It's a tough class but is easy enough to get through if you pay attention. He cares about his subject and wants you to care about it too. He knows a lot about New York State and has fantastic stories. He was one of the best professors to learn this subject from and he is missed.

This is one of the worst professors I've ever had. I think he's a nice person, but as a professor he is very mean. He basically wants his students to fail and you have to study very hard to get a good grade. I am usually and A student and I am hoping to get a B in this class if I'm lucky.

Hardest professor at Oneonta. Too bad you HAVE to take him if you are an EDUC major. His tests are VERY difficult, I went to his office hours and he always got off track and discussed his personal life. I made the effort he did not. Oneonta needs to re-evaluate this teacher.

This guy is an absolute hard ass. Im a history major and the first test brought me to tears. And going to talk to him is fine. But it is a struggle and will make the rest of your classes seem like cake walks!

This is a hard class but if you do the readings and take good notes you will pass the class. It is helpful to go to tutoring and work with other students. Dr. Larkin is a kind professor and will tell some great stories.

Here's the deal with Dr. Larkin: He's a very nice guy, however, he's going to make passing this class hell. He's the only teacher that teaches this, and luckily for you childhood ed majors, you HAVE to take this! All I can say is go to class, READ and go to him during office hours and ask questions. He curves, and most pass with a C. Aim for a B!

Hardest professor I've ever had! Study your notes for quizzes every week. His tests are ridiculously hard. Read the text books or you'll be lost on tests. When we got our second text back, he gave a whole speech about how students usually do better on test 2 but we didn't then I had a B- in comparison to my C on the first test. I hate this class!

This man is the worst thing to happen to higher education since Alabama's textbooks. If it were up to me, this man would be stripped of his licence, and forced into the streets. He doesn't review anything, talks like he has a mouth full of food all the time, and his tests are unreasonably hard. And he's the only one teaches the class. AVOID HIM

I'm in the class right now and he is a great guy/professor. This is THE hardest class education majors have to endure but it keeps you on your toes. I will probably end up with a C which I am very upset about buton the brights ide, he is really funny. He has a dry sense of humor and I think he enjoys scaring his students.

Great Guy. Out of all the people in my class, he knew me by my first name. He is very hard to get ahold of, but always willing to help out. My advise is to go to every class, bring ur laptop, study for an hour b4 every quiz, & you'll be fine. The only book you really have to read is the one he wrote. The tests are difficult bcuz they r worded weird.

I'm sure you have heard nightmares about this class. I know I did and it made me really nervous to take the class. I honestly didn't think I could pass, but I did. Honestly, if I could pass this class with a C anyone can. Yes this class is hard and unfair, but it is manageable. Trust me if you think you have no chance in passing your wrong.

He is a really wonderful man. It is so horrible to hear such horrible things about him. His class may be hard, but he is willing to help anyone who shows him they are trying. Study and it will pay off. Read his Canal book and introduce yourself to him. He likes to know his students! Thanks for a great semester!

I learned an enormous amount of info regarding NYS,unfortunately none of it was on the tests or it was so badly worded I was unable to understand the question. The quizzes are your saving grace so make sure you study. This man uses his power and enjoys tormenting his students with it.I am a senior now,the only B I ever received was in this class.

This man should not be allowed to teach anything. His test were the most arbitray things I have ever experienced. He assigned a 900 page book and then derived his questions from the footnotes, literally! His lectures wander aimlessly. To boot, he is obsessed with his own power (which is considerable. Avoid this professor at all costs.

First of all this guy is funny. He is like one of the old two guys who make fun of everyone on the muppets. Quizzes are easy, tests are alright, just study and know the history because that is what the class is! He feeds into the notion that he is the hardest professor. Funny guy!
