Very engaging lectures despite no powerpoints! Interesting readings though they are extremely one sided. He is a fair marker, but it is important to do readings as your grades rely on participation and 3 essays that are based off of the readings. Thoroughly enjoyed this class. Also, super willling to help you out with your essay during office hours

Larry is an awesome prof, he is so supportive of his students and will go above and beyond to ensure your success. His lectures can be a bit dry, but if you engage then you'll enjoy the content. Reading is necessary to do well in his classes. Most of his grades are on papers so be prepared to write a lot.

He was an okay professor. The only thing I did NOT like was that he made us write an essay on his own book. Making it awkward since I did not agree with some of the things he wrote about. Although I did hear that he has changed that.

Larry is a really great prof! The fact that he just simply lectures rather then uses power points is different and causes you to really pay attention and attend class which in the end is very beneficial. He is a very good asset to the SWLF department

Larrys lectures consist of a dry monologue..then a breif sip from his water bottle.. then more dry monologue. The information given is VERY interesting but with no visuals it gets painful to get through. Anyone else think its funny that he makes you buy his own book for course text? thats one way to get people to buy your book larry!smart thinking?

Larry is well-organized, concise, and brilliant. Made me think about the world differently. Clearly put a lot of thought into his lectures and assignments. Taught me more about Social Welfare than all my other classes combined. Funny, kind, thoughtful, and always willing to help outside of class. I reccommend Larry to anyone - Nipissing is lucky!

He remembers what it's like being a student, but never forgets that he is a prof, and therefore his role is to challenge us, and to understand the challenge before us.

Probably the only Poli Sci Prof who would not mention even one word of the Provincial Election occuring outside the classroom, while he taught the whole year. How dull. As well, do not expect the class to be an open debate, as he gives little to no time for ideology and policy discussion.

Without Prof. Patriquin's first-year political science course, I would not have had half of the exposure to the resources at Nipissing that were made available. The course was incredible, and so was the prof.

Not the most entertaining delivery of material, but a knowledgable prof that is more than fair with his grading, even if he does expect a lot from you in first year.
