This is one of the hardest classes at Mercer. Your only grades are the first 3 exams and the final. She does not offer any extra credit. If you show up to every class and you are close to failing, she will round it up.

Literally worst class. She does an awful job of keeping you engaged which sucks because the class is already boring as is. Her voice lags and it's just all irritating; the whole class. The tests have so much information. You need to study HARD. i almost failed this class while keeping really good grades in all my other classes. Take another class.

Dr. Stewart is a very nice professor and Art history was the only class this semester that I could tolerate waking up to at 9 am. The exams are pure memorization and you need to know a lot of artwork. There is no homework but you need to know a lot for the exam. Dr. Stewart makes art history sound interesting and I highly recommend this class.

Sure, art history sounds easy, right? Would not recommend for anyone looking for a GPA boost. It's a class you will learn a lot in, but if you want a class that doesn't hurt your GPA... She only has four grades, three are tests. the average of the first two tests: first one was a 63, and the average of the second was low 70s. Just don't.

Dr. Stewart really cares about her field. Attendance is not required but you'll want to be there because she goes over everything that you need to know. She also makes it interesting enough to actually pay attention. :)

I took Dr. Stewart back in 07. Let me start out by saying that I am no artist. I took art in order to fulfill an elective requirement and to try something new. I found Dr. Stewart to be extremely discouraging. She would often dissuade me from trying certain things bc she felt it would be "too hard" for me, which I found insulting & out of line.

Great teacher, loved the material, really straight-forward: do the work, participate in class, get the grade. You should take the time to read the text book, especially before a test; she likes for you to give a lot of info about context and detail on the essay questions.

This class essentially tests your ability to memorize. There's also a bit of writing, but it's not that difficult for anyone who knows how to hold the pen the right way. Attendance wasn't required, but realize there are obvious benefits of going to class. Also, the only use of the book is looking up the artworks; I didn't read a word of it.

This class is so pointless. Dr. Stewart is an extremeley enthusiastic and nice person; however the class is pretty boring. She has visited most of the artworks that you go over so she can tell you what they look like in person, it's interesting, but that's not on the tests. Study and you'll be fine.

Dr. Stewart is AMAZING!!! She knows so much about art and art history! You must read in her class or you won't do well on the tests! She gives 4 tests and a few in-class essays and a paper over non-western art. Don't BS anything because she'll call you on it. GO TO CLASS!!! and SPEAK UP IN CLASS!!! she bumped my grade up b/c I went to every class!

You get out of it what you put into it. Stewart is enthusiastic, but that wont help unless you are too. She really knows her stuff and she's fun to discuss art history with. Her class is tempting to sleep through b/c she turns off the lights for the projector, but stay awake! Make index cards everyday to review for tests: not all multi-choice

I took this class as an elective and it was one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken. She is so nice and really knows her stuff. . .the tests aren't bad if you study and review along the way. She is socially inept, but a really nice person.

One tough class, but she'll definitely help you out and be flexible. Not the easy class to take for the hours.
